Hi, recently upped my Rig from a RX6700XT to a RX7800 XT when it was quite cheap at 460 Euros not so long ago but the recent development on the hardware sector regarding RAM, Drives and all Hardware more likely to have all new models become more expensive than the predecessor and old models at best stay close to MSRP i spent quite a lot of money (614 Euro is a lot imho) on a Sapphire Pulse RX9070XT and 2x Samsung 990 Pro (1TB + 4TB) for my Linux Mint 22.2 based Sys.

Merchwarrior 5 Mercs (GOG based) runs great on Linux via Heroic Launcher and o boy, the RX9070XT is such a beast it doesnt sweat running MW5Mercs in 4k in all its glory making me really happy to grind out that money.

With vonBiomes the best version of itself and Merctech tracking logistics like Ammunition again i have renewed motivation to play the game and atm try out what mods work well together.

I dont care for the tonnage race or BFG gameplay - i want more rpg and logistics gameplay instead!

Salvage shall be a major contributor to the economy of my merc unit at the background of a world that suffers a scarcitiy of ressources forcing you to make the best out of what you and conservation of your forces a necessity.

Sadly Coyotes Missions seems not to work with the Campaign or Merctech, i dont know, some Mechs show up invisible and flicker into existence now and then, so i guess something does not work which is a shame bcs the depth and variety of Cyotes Missions blows standard MW5M out of the water.

Alas, you can not have it all - for now i am extremely happy how the game performs, how good it still looks and how much the mods add to the gameplay expeience - thx yall for your effort to make MW5 Mercs the best it has ever been!

PS: And i hope there is still more to come in the future Posted Image

PPS: Go GOG, get gain!

Yeah, it seems i was a bit overly enthusiastic in my OP.

Bcs. the AI is NOT up to the taks - stupid pathfinding and unintentioned kamikaze attacks without the ability to disengage even when using vastly faster Mechs.

The pathfinding is simply put bad - i have every 2 to 3 Missons one or more occasions where i have to flip Mechs bcs the AI does know how to step onto a boulder but then it does unlearn stepping at all and regardless of having jumpjets it does not move for the sake of their life - so its me swithing into that cockpit and stepping off the boulder...

The Jenner especially hangs at every tight spot everywhere bcs it somehow does not know how broad it is and wants to move where a smaller javelin can move but the Jenner can not - at worst they get stuck in their attempt to force the camel thru the pinch point.

Then they like to attack opponents without back up kamikazing into groups of Mechs several hundred Meters away down a slope or in a valley bcs they dont know cliff edges and when engaged you can call them as much as you want they stay engaed til dead or you take over or rush in. That is with stay in formation active - only stay at location solves that somwhat but then they have to stay way behind you.

Disengaging a forlorn fight seems to be against their honorcode or so - better to be killed and lose the Mech than to move out of an disadvantage even when oredered to do so....sigh...

Honestly, all the Mechs are a herd of Cats that only occasionally do sensible things out of random luck and most of the time there is no sensible AI-Lancemates Teamplay, its individual anarchy!

This quite unsatisfying AI behavior really needs a fix and i hope you PGI have the brains and the brawns to succeed that monumental task.

Aside of that i have much fun and entertainement as long i can construct a story out of the behavior of my lancemates and oponents.

Started a few times over, trying mods out, got occasionally early in the game my *** kicked when suddenly a dropship landet while i was engaged aleady in a lance vs lance (***********) combat and suddenly vastly outnumbered.

I like the "Call for Evac" mod, it enhances the immersion greatly when in need to retreat from a huge catastrophy of a mission!

I really believe you can do so much more with the game and i hope you will find the oportunity to do so!

Happy Holidays!
