Other heavy mechs that can run JJ and ERPPC are warhammer-9D(S), cataphract, thanatos, quickdraw, thunderbolt, and catapult; of which, only the catapult hero (jester), quickdraw-4H, and thunderbolt-9SE have heat quirks. For JJ ERPPC heavy mechs, I think Grasshopper is the best option available. If you're willing to go lower tonnage, the BJ-3 is a good mech for IS ERPPC.

4 ERPPC on a GHP

You mean 2, right?
4 ERPPC only allows for 18DHS/2JJ - that's not enough sustain. Additionally 2 of the ERPPCs are around the balls basically.
4 ERPPC even on heat quirked Assaults is hot.

You're right. 4ERPPC, 4JJ, light engine 280 (65.9kph) with 15 DHS is 2.72 sustained DPS without skills, and can barely shoot 2 volleys of 2 ERPPC. Very hot, and I wouldn't recommend it. I'll edit to make that more clear.

WHM-9D can poptart with ERPPCs or HPPCs, basically same builds as the GHR but with WHM mounts (AKA, the highs are not as close to the cockpit as the GHR but you don't have to put anything in there to bump them up).
Neither is as overall good at poptarting as a BJ-3 poptarting with ERPPC or HPPC. And, as others have said, it's better to put more guns on the GHR anyway because otherwise it's wasting 25 tons.

This is what I ended up with, but since I've only played 3 games with the HPPC build, and have been slowly increasing the amount of ML I carry (my first iteration was 2 HPPC + 2 ERSL, found I had overabundance of heat), it might change further as I play it.

I've thought about taking the TC1 and 1 JJ off, upping left arm armor and putting in a 5th ML, haven't tried it yet though.

5ML is hot if you get pushed on after you've just shot a HPPC volley I found in that to back up with a 2nd/3rd round of 5ML, you're cooked. 4ML was a nice balance for the extra JJ.
I actually run 4ML now on mine as well like this: GHR-5H
It is specifically for FP though - thus 2 laser in the arms. Surprising how often they come in handy, as I'm usually dropping it on specific maps and UAVs are a pain in the butt on them. Works well.
QP 5ML is probably fine and just 2JJ.

I jump a lot, and end up taking leg damage from falling, so almost all my poptarts run max/almost max leg armour. Not to mention eating LRM/ATM volleys to the legs.

I always save just enough for normally safe landing.

I have just 1 Grasshopper which is the 5P and I have tried all of those builds (HPPC with XL, ERPPC with MLs, 3 LL + 5 ERML vomit) and I'm currently keeping the laser vomit build. What I wanted was an IS Heavy mech around the 70t bracket for FP to bring pop-tarting ERPPCs for long-range or UAC10s for mid-range. I'll buy the 5H when I get the chance and try it out.
I do have the ERPPC Blackjack and it's great. I was hoping to set up a deck for ERPPC only. Any thoughts on the Thanatos (although I think I already know the answer)? I was thinking about the Jester as well but I wasn't too sure.

The 5H is better for anything else energy as the heat quirk is what makes the mech.
