Solo And Group Queue Combined For Next 4 Weeks

Offer your comments. Many warned Paul against this, but per usual, didn't do any good. I'm sure some of you are very happy about it though.
I'm out for the next 4 weeks (or longer if they don't revert). If you're a baby seal I hope you don't get clubbed too hard, or at least you can wait it out till the elite players get bored and leave the queue.

You clearly haven't been paying attention to all the potatoes that have been given puberty blockers in Tier 1. The current Tier system is completely broken.

There is no tier filtering in group queue, and Paul's post said nothing about monitoring tiers for groups and solos. If I am reading this right, an EMP group is as likely to drop in T5 match as an LFG T5 pug group in a T1 match. Seven years later we are back at square one.

In solo queue now, yes. But after the patch you may be seeing all sorts of players since it is unclear if tier will be monitored for groups. The idea behind the group queue has been for the players to regulate themselves within their own groups, and there is no indication how (if at all) the groups will be gauged for solo queue placement.

The worst players in MWO are playing Solo QP in Tier 1. I'd rather play with lower-tier players who might still have some willingness to learn and to play with their team left.

I plan to go on playing and posting even thought I am just an ordinary QP player with less than 1500 hours in the game. Someone needs to represent Joe A. Solo. I hope that those who have been here a long time who play solo and group will come in and help test the waters.
And if worse comes to worse we do have the ultimate veto, although maybe the threat of the game population reaching zero doesn't really worry them. It is fishing season, maybe they have other things they want to do.

Given that tier separation doesn't really matter from 1-3, and you'd have to be terminally inbred to not eventually end up T3+...oh, there will be LOTS of seal clubbing. People can already solo-carry a PUG with enough skill.
Four people working together? Better hope your organized lance of bois is better than theirs if you're soloing, or you're so stronk you could have carried the team by yourself anyway.

Statistically?
Barely at all. The PSR system is so positively biased that short of not playing other than to shoot your own team, you'll take an age to even drop a perceptible amount in T2, never mind actually dropping to 3 or less. And if you hit 4, you'd be outside of tryhard T1 group play anyway.

Now all you'll have is groups of maxed out mechs clubbing the few new players in non mastered mechs. I can't see how this would encourage new players to stick around for an extended period of time.
Also as most of you know I play mainly solo Que. If I wanted to play in a group I'd join the group Que. The reason why both group play and faction play are dead is that you'd have really skilled / organized groups stomping the unorganized "fun" groups. This isn't fun for casual player and thus lead to the decline in these groups. All you've done is now brought the same problem to the solo Que. A terrible idea.
As a side note I also don't like the idea of it being forced down my throat.

Yeah right. Imo, T1 players would rather play lower tiers because it is easier. It takes off some of the pressure of playing at T1 levels of play. As everyone know there are a lot of T1 players playing in lower tiers including yourself it appears. Half your team could be T1 players for all you know.
I'm looking forward to this experiment. We are just testing. Doesn't hurt to try something different for a while.

I made an alt a little while ago and played out the cadet games. From my experience, players at t4-5 are *substantially* worse than at higher tiers. There might be some t1 alts floating around but I doubt there are many.
