Seems to me that if the match maker was functioning as intended by its designer/programmer their would be less farming as peeps would only be playing with other peeps of similar skill.

So if peeps get farmed it sounds like the match making is not working. Do other businesses expect one group of customers to accommodate another group of customers to those customers detriment. I think not.

So match making is the developers job not the Customer/playerbases job.

I'm not pro farmer but that cucumber post was funny. The post was talking about match maker not farming.

oops double post

Feel free to post me and ask how you can win 1,41 of your solo games while you end up in tier 3 with a relative few amounts of games, even if it was a good while since I played on this account. And this was not a second or third of them or anything like that. I am pretty sure you will then understand why the present tiers are just as bad as you would like them to be....

Not sure I understand what you mean. Yes I am in tier 3.

I think you mean how did I win 41 games so far this month and am in Tier 3 with relatively few games.

If this is the case he is my answer.
Firstly I'm just good at video games, a natural born nerd I guess.

Second I won 41 games because:
I stayed behind the lerm boats and if I couldn't find a lerm boat but saw a group I stayed behind them instead. But mostly lerm boats. This seems to be working well.

Thirdly the last part of your quote:
I believe you are saying you are not having a great time due to present Tier system.

Well that's bad. And should be fixed.

Getting pounded again and again is not enjoyable. Neither is winning too easy.

Nice, just as I am. I´ll prolly would be a nice addition to any combos of teams right now with the present MM, if tiers matching are online. Only issue for me is that in the long run I need a decent and competitive, similar skill level to my own environment to feel good, while hoping for some good and close game, and yes that would not include a heavy amount of the present tieronces.

This never used to happen . Not even when the group queue was more populated . Have in mind that some of these are additionally diluted by playing solo as well, but its not like PGI can tell a difference. Sorted by WL :

Actually absurd WL ratios used to happen. A lot. When group queue was more populated. Check seasons 15-20 for example.

I agree Ted with your K/D I think most teams would welcome you.

Sounds like you are saying that many in Tier one are not really Tier one quality.

So how does Match maker tell the different between them? Or can it even tell the difference? Posted Image

You're missing the point. The win loss ratios we are now seeing in the combined queue were not possible in the same way in the old solo queue. Some here have tried to claim they see no difference in matches, these high win loss ratios show that is definitively not the case. If you are pointing out that this change has made the combined queue much like the old group queue you are correct, we basically now have group queue with some poor solo players thrown in.

Well if there are 4 man groups prowling around with only veteran players, of course its much like the old group queue. I've always suggested that solos can opt-in. Since the old "cant drop with 11-man" was a thing.

Just wanted to point out that this game has had silly WL ratios through its whole life, nothing new there.

That said the few matches I've had were fun and mostly balanced. :)

Well, through all my life i have always been an individual sportsman and of course I took the challenge to skill up in the old days factions, just because I understood there are better players in there than in group or QP, yup hard stomach. Only problem is that when you return from that after LT and the stomps, and have played too few games in qp, you end up in tier 3. Then you will run into mechwarriors that you know are high tiers but you still know you can beat them "every time" you see them. They can not even torso twist properly, just look at you face on while you do what you do. Yet, there was prolly a thousand or so at that time that prolly would beat me 100 out of 100 if I played them 1v1.

Sorry my friends, I did not mean to end the discussion. I just wanted to give you some ideas of how wide the present player skill rating is at the moment.

Well due to all the comments about less NASCAR with the new merge, B33F is doing his best to bring NASCAR back.

https://www.twitch.tv/the_b33f

Also includes lots of southern drawls and Ricky Bobby references. Comedy gold.

BTW, average match length, about 3 min.

Originaly MWO was a 8vs8 game with Alphas around 30 to 35 Damage.
Now it is a 12vs12 game with Alphas up to 1xx and commonly around 60+ i would say.
DPS Builds have undergone a similar development in firepower increase i guess.
So 50% more Weaponcarriers with 100% to 200% and more the Firepower...well...that is much hurt!

PS: Yeah protection is also somewhat better but protection is a limited ressource, while firepower is an abundant if not infinite ressource...

You know what I think would essentially solve the whole discussion to everybodys satisfaction? The already mentioned "opt-in" functionality. Then those people that enjoy themselves or feed adventurous could opt for merged queue, while those that do not, well, do not.

From my experience, though, I would expect that would be tantamount to almost everybody opting out, leaving us in the same situation as before. OTOH, if this is as much as a success as everybody at PGI claims, there would be opt-ins en masse. ;-) Providing the opt-in is the only way to prove it, one way or another. ;-) Go ahead, PGI. :) I dare ya. ;-)

So are we going to get a casual gamemode to replace the now dead casual gamemode that was solo quick play, or is this the end?

No, you are not going to get a casual mode / solo queue back.

Paul Inouye says that he will listen to the feedback, but the company president Bullock admits that the change is permanent:

Yes, it is.

Either enjoy being farmed by premade groups or leave. It is simple as that.

And I guess that this is what many PUGs will do ...

Well, if the change is permanent, can we at least get a PSR without upwards bias and a complete reset of Tiers? Surely that can't be a lot of work to change?

If you are an average player, you do not want to run into a full group of 99.9%ers, nor really into a full group of 20%ers.

Take a break, come back, find out they let Paul do a thing. Why, ever, would you let Paul do a thing? Just pay him and keep him in a corner if you're going to insist on employing him, don't let him touch things...

This whole thread is hilarious btw. Anyone thinking this game had enough population left to mess with anything regarding matchmaking was and is dreaming. Lot of work to mess with a system so few people will be affected by. With the amount of money I've wasted on this game, you'd think I'd care a bit more, but honestly, if you don't laugh at the state of MWO and how sad PGI is these days, you'd cry. Never have I seen such an inept company last this long being so bad at what they do.

Also, Russ calling another person rude, that had to make my year. At least he didn't call anyone worthless, that'd just be too much irony to handle.

Come on, everyone just admit it, this is what we need. A complete reset allowing players to better fall into skill levels after a few weeks/months of playing. Lets just get behind this instead of arguing about everything else. I am in Tier 1 apparently and 92% percentile on Jarl's. Trust me, thats not right. Either 85% on that list below me play once a year, or the PSR system is completely broken. I am experienced in the game yes, highly experienced, but I am not a skillful pilot. The system needs to separate those things and stop biasing towards players who play more. We have all played with players like me who are experienced, in tier 1 but aren't that skillful, In a similar way there must be players in the lower tiers who are highly skilled but dropping with far less capable pilots and unable to win rounds etc. Lets just reset with a system that allows pilots to better land where they should be, then hopefully everything else (more enjoyable rounds, bringing more new players in, retaining some competitive upper tier matches etc) will happen.

Jarl's ranks by average match score, not by PSR. PSR is so broken that someone in the 38th percentile still gets into Tier 1 despite failing to consistently break 200 score in their matches.

I've been continuing to play as a solo. Match experience feels similar to Solo Queue — big outliers I've seen lately have been groups underperforming. Like, hanging back in their super-clever spot but not informing the team, or else confusing the matchmaker and adding three or four <40th percentile players with no balance on the other end.

Which brings us to the part where PGI continues to PGI. If mixed queues are working reasonably well with inaccurate player ratings, how would they perform with players more appropriately assigned to tiers? There's really nothing worth saving in current PSR scores. Is it a database issue?

I mean, I know this is a "dormant" game, but shoot if it isn't still enjoyable on a basic, 15-seconds-of-fun level. PGI has reopened the can just enough to justify asking.
