What helps you pilot your mech. Not for what you have, but for what you use to make you a good pilot or to get better. To pilot and be the mech, pilot must have/use the Neurohelmet to control. Since we are not using the helmet, we have plug ins to our computer.

For examples I use:

A Razer Naga 19 button mouse. Everything at the touch of my thumb.
Corsair: K55 keyboard. Gaming Void Pro Surround headset.

I do still have the Scimitar Pro mouse. Unable to go under 19 buttons now to play MWO. Tried, and I am lost.
Although I do have a 7 button mouse aside (hooked up) for internet, CGI and other.

Does anyone use a Razer Orbweaver Chroma? How does that work well in MWO? Was thinking about getting it.

Decent mobility, good weapon type/placement and able to tank like a boss. The catapults work great for me. PC tech wise I'm just using an old 2012 custom built amd rig $1200 when I got it and after a spill of water it had to have repair-upgrades after the video card took most of the water damage. I reused what was good and put in $400 in a video card and memory with slight cpu upgrade maxing out the 2012 mother board.

My keyboard and mouse wired and is the lowest combo I could get as mwo makes me rage for a lot of reason. Good will sold me many many $5 keyboard until they closed from the covid. A $10 mouse works as good as a $60 and I can put the rest of that money to bills and such. I'd love to have the income to get all the "gamer" over priced led rgb stuff but a fancy casing doesn't improve game play. Hardware does that.

Logitech keyboard and a walmart blackweb mouse currently in use. I like the logitech brand stuff. The lower end and mid range of it can take a beating to some extent and isn't expensive with a lot of fluff. The walmart mouse is pretty meh. Four buttons and scroll wheel but works.

My case itself was a cyber power chimera 4 initially. The case is aluminum and has seen a lot of moving, falls down stairs, getting kicked, water spilled into it and more. I don't think i'll ever stop using it even for a secondary pc if I buy another pc rig. I'd really love to get a stromtrooper case with a lot of air flow using fans. I'm not big into water and other liquid cooling. Low buget to mid for me as I am in a really crappy town with not much for work having to move often to wherever I can get work.

Edit: Razor and pgi never did mass produce that joystick with a screen and throttle control. There's pics of it some where;probably in the hard ware section. I'd have paid 2-300$ for a fully working one. It was like the steel battalion's younger less button-y sibling.

Long time ago I was playing Tribes:Ascend and S4 League games, which required short reaction time. Suddenly I realised that I was limited by my keyboard (I had a keyboard with a pretty long travel distance), and decided to change to scissor-switch keyboard (they have the shortest activation (around 1mm) and total travel(around 2mm) distance.
That was a game-changer for me, my response speed increased greatly. So I have been using low-profile scissor-switch keyboards (Currently: Cougar Vantar Black) for a pretty long time now. Sadly, they are not widely used, so the only replacement I see in the nearest future is recently announced updated version cougar vantar ax.
As for the mouse - my grip is something between palm and fingertip, and I'm a pretty tall (2m) person with big hands, so I like to use big ergonomic mice. I used Razer Deathadder (satisfied, but it broke), Bloody Blazing A9 (VERY similar to Deathadder, VERY satisfied, but broke too), currently using Cougar Revenger S (decided to try it after buying a keyboard - good, but I think Bloody was better).

A4tech X7 is my #1 mouse for years. 5 buttons is quite enough for the most games. Maybe I would try 7 (another 2 under my thumb)... But not 19, for sure! And a simple mx-cherry-red 104-key keyboard. As for the rest, it's a medium-price AMD FX build with GTX 1060 graphics and an SSD (seems a must for MWO, it being so fat). This carried me many other games heavy on graphics, but it still lags when I encounter a bit too many mechs and explosions at once.

I've been using a Logitech K120 keyboard (yes, it's cheap but fairly durable) with an A4Tech Opto 429 mouse, switched the latter to an A4Tech X710 a few months back when it became clear the 429 wasn't going to be very repairable in the near future.

The Human to game interface is a key part of winning when all other things such as skill/builds are equal

Mouse and key board are just the start.
In my system currently Logitech G903 wireless mouse and cheap Logitech G105 Keyboard
Had two pretty expense, Steel Series Apex M500's which had multiple beer accidents.
They work after a clean but not the same with some shenangans so I use the G105.

Now when I said mouse and key board are just the start, I should mention as Fahad would say that the CPU can completely change the experience from a pile of junk to Star Leagues finest gov.

Speaking of which I have lost two Intel CPU's in the many years I have played this game.
Not sure if due to 4.5Mhz 24hour 7 day Overclock, accident prone M500's or a power surge but yeah lost a 3770K (passed 2015 and a i7-5930K just recently. Even bought a 2nd hand MB for the 5930K but no luck so sad miss you 40 lanes. Both were watercooled but I hear you can get this electron migration or something thingie after a while.

Now I really am running a hunk of junk, its OK doh, an i3-9100F@3.6Ghz

That's how I play in the hardware department.

However hardware is only half the story imo, some times its how you setup the controls and which controls you use that can be make all the difference.

Let you in on a secret that helps me pilot pretty guid, since the game is in maintenance mode and I'm a not very competitive casual player.
I use the Full stop a lot and not just for stopping. I use the Full stop a lot for steering my mech too.
Shh don't tell.

Edit: Added a few words and spelling

I use a Varmilo keyboard with cherry mx blacks, because I demand only the very best for my fingers. I find the non-linear and/or butterfly wing flapping force required to activate "gaming" keyboards to be disgusting. I use a uTechSmart mouse which is basically a rip-off of the Redragon, back when uTechSmart first started shipping the mouse on Amazon I got it for $30 CAD. It was a flipping bargain, 12 buttons on the side which are all accessible, decent software, and this thing hasn't faltered for the nearly 8 years I have owned it. I steer clear of "gaming" peripherals since they are a total rip; overpriced junk made of poor quality plastic (e.g. Razr mice) that fails after the pitiful warranty is up.

Edit: Sorry I should say I avoid big name brand gaming peripherals, not all gaming peripherals, since obviously my mouse wasn't designed for office use. With that said, as a programmer having page navigation buttons assigned to the mouse like home/end/page up/down is wonderfully useful.

Logitech MX90 Ergo mouse, MFG Crosswind rudder pedals, CH Pro Throttle, MS keyboard (forget which one, it’s backlit and you can program macros).

With this setup I will soon be back in T5...Posted Image

I played hundreds of matches in them back in the day. Hired out the facility for large group matches and everything. Good times,

I had hopes that MW5 would make it worthwhile to make a bit of a sim pit... but it just looks like an arcade game and I haven't even bothered buyinm it yet, let alone getting any more peripherals. I have an X52 pro for when I do play it, but that's as far as I will go.

My first computer experience playing Mechwarrior was in those pods, as I didn't have a computer or know how to use them back then.

In Australia at Intencity Parramatta they were pretty expensive, 10 dollars for so for 15 minutes.

It was awesome and got me hooked on the series.

That's where I played. Chances are we've met... I only went on the specials where you could get bulk games for less, or did the bulk bookout of them all.

I'm surprised that MW:O is playable via USB tethering from a network cellphone service. The only thing I could really do with tethering is browse basic sites and maybe watch some youtube videos. I could see games with good netcode not having any problems, which I'm not sure if MW:O has.

Playable, yes. But barely. Had to do the same for a few days when my router was broken. Never again.
