I know that there's smoke showing where Artillery/Airstrikes will be,
but while in Thermal Vision mode this smoke is almost invisible, especially if you're moving.

Why most of my assault mechs have air strikes. If I get in to a fight with another assault or a slower moving mech I can drop air strike behind there back and unlike arty you can aim air strike's at a target. They don't see the smoke most of the time or if someone warns them

The answer is simple: don't use thermal unless necessary. It screws you over on visual information in more ways than one.

2. I was in a game just now, ingame time late afternoon going into late evening,
so everything was slowly going from dim into almost total darkness.
HAD to use Thermal vision.
But could not see buildings in Thermal vision, kept running/shooting into buildings.
Fortunately there were no airstrikes either, as would not see it either in such a 100% Thermal vision situation.

I think that it should be possible.
When playing on Caustic Valley map, check those toxic vapours in the caldera. They show up as hot when using infra-red, so I would say that it should be possible to implement such solution, i.e. modify the Artillery Strike smoke marker to be "hot" when using infra-red..
Ask Russ Bullock and I am sure that in two years - three years at maximum - it is going to be added to MWO.

You realize there's a Night Vision mode separate from Thermal, right?
