LRM 15 provide best damage to weight ratio. AMS tracks salvos of missiles so 1 rack of LRM 15 is a single AMS target with 1 set of missiles knocked out; 6 LRM 5 become 6 salvos and odds are that they will all be knocked out.

For laughs, I run an IIC Oxide with 6 LRM 5 and swap it to 1 LRM 15. In a private lobby against a friend with 1 AMS, damage is around 68% higher with the LRM 15 because of this targeting algorythm.

Bringing your own TAG does not improve your own lock-on times nor the spread of your missiles. This was removed with the LRM overhaul.

Totally missed that, but to be fair, removing ECM from 800m away is pretty nice.

Tag is pretty great. The lock on time is super fast which allows me to peek and lurm near the front line or lock onto jumping light mechs. Relying on teammates for locks is usually unreliable and the spread on targets that are out of LOS is worse. Firing out of LOS is just a lot of wasted damage for the most part. There's also a chance I get shot a few times so I can share some armor on my (usually) heavy mech lurmboat. I can always retreat to the back after taking my share of damage. Getting a 3x RAC2 mech to focus on me instead of our frontline assaults is a great trade to me.

Also when I have LOS I know my missiles are actually hitting the target instead of a wall and I can see if there's a 4x AMS corsair nearby eating up all my rokits.

still would rather put an erml in that hardpoint. i could be hurting the enemy while my lock completes.

You don't need lasers or tag when the trial mech is the cptl-a1.

Well, TAG still punches through ECM/stealth cover and makes a cloaked mech targetable, as long as you are not in their 120m radius disrupt bubble. Otherwise, Streak SRM do not benefit from TAG.

as a streakboat, you wanna go after lights often.
many lights bring an ecm to the table*.

-so bringing a TAG yourself to shoot things you could not without is ALWAYS worth it.
otoh you can always do 'whatever' and blame the opposition, the broken MM and so on,
as is tradition Posted Image

*as do many mediums, quite a few heavies and some assaults.

To be fair with merge que match making is broken
For farming its Fine
For giving even fun interesting matches to grow the game...Not so much

Mech perks are pretty important for lerms
And generally more smaller launchers are better than fewer larger launchers

Love moi NARC which if you target all the ecm mechs 1st can remove all ecm for the rest of the lermers to shade the sky

outside of FW, I'd NEVER narc for anybody in QP (and even in FW it was only in those rare "let's have a laugh and lerm"-drops (which I never liked in the first place)).
it is absolutely okay to bring a narc for yourself in QP; it is literally a waste of several tons, if you expect the rest to use it, and I'd consider it a shoot-yourself-in-the-foot-crime on a QP-light.

but then again: if you got 23 blind in QP, the one-eyed light is still king Posted Image

I have used ATM's, and ended up going back to LRM's. Reason is that sometimes, on certain maps, that LRM's do have an advantage of being a little more multi=functional, compared to ATM's. ATM's yes, do a massive amount of damage at close to medium range, however, when it comes to indirect fire, LRM's are better suited. LRM's can still do wonders in the LOS situation as well, especially if you're equipping them with ARTEMIS.

Lately I have found myself rolling a MCII-4 with 80 tubes. Firing 40 at a time as to avoid any ghost heat. Alpha's when I have LOS. 3 ER-Small's, TAG, and Lots and Lots of ammo...

What sucks is when you drop, and there are 3 to 4 LRMs boats on your team, this is too damn much, and usually results in a loss.

I am thinking about rolling an older layout that I use to run on it. 4 LRM 15's with ARTEMIS, 4 MPL's, and remaining for HS's, and Ammo... Skipping the putters... By the time I am out of rounds, half the enemy team should be dead or close to it, so it's time to get dirty!

LRMs are excellent when used right.. If a team uses the correct systems and the LRM mech moves somewhat with the team its really effective and can obliterate the enemy, The issues arise when too many want to use LRMs and working in pugs is really hit and miss, literally.. Helpful lights - mediums with narc or tag can be amazing but it really limits the lights and mediums weights.

It all comes back to lone wolves, toxic players and hateful communities. Not the game as such. Also certain maps are a factor.
