all i gotta say is atleast he is giving it a go more than i can say for 90% of the player base

Yep, he gave it a go, and we all saw the results, and now we wish he would just stop.

you want to take command use your mic. using the map commands is for armchair commanders.

no please don't use the mic for anything but calling vulnerable targets or enemy positions.

A big part of what makes some T1/T2 QP games so miserable is every tinpot Star Commander trying to yell over each other on comms about the right grid to hold or the right direction to rotate.

Hmm, maybe I should stick to tier 3.

seems you either get 2 commanders or 0 commanders in qp, usually the latter.

Neither clicking the commander button nor yelling commands makes one a commander. A commander is first and foremost one that is respected and trusted by the team. Failing that, it's just a noise to be muted.

I would hardly call this thread a large enough sample size to come to that conclusion. I also take command and have found that pugs follow my orders more often than not. What you are suggesting is that I am a "good "player with enough renown that people are willing to follow my orders.

My personal way of giving someone a chance to command is that I know that player can really play (When I actually played this game actively I played a lot of comp... from 1st RHOD to Russ announcement that this game is going to maintenance mode and loads of CW also). With that XP I pretty much knew all IMO good players and units that most likely have a good players who usually played in my timezone. And those people I have given a chance to command, if it goes well I can follow them again.

what really sucks is when you get a known good commander and a charlatan who wont clear comms long enough for the other guy to do his thing.

In pug life the rule is to trust no one. Your teammates are just as likely to dump an alpha in your mech as the enemies.

Though I'd still take a commander over no commander. That whole respect and trust thing only applies to premades.

You seem to think simply having a commander will boost your teams win chance. This is far from the truth. The only thing that is certain is that drop callers have a modifier on a team's performance. This can be a 150% modifier, which is a positive boost, or a 50% modifier, which destroys the team faster than the enemy does. Bad calls such as telling the team to move to bad locations, failing to account for the build of a person before given them orders, etc, all reduce your team's chances of winning. In MWO, there are more bad drop callers than good ones by virtue of not having a skill-gate on the button.

I'm under no delusion that a bad commander can trounce my chances. If anything the delusion is that a bad commander can improve with experience. But that delusion is no different to you or I recommending builds and tactics on the forums.

But I must say that a bunch of pugs rallying under a bad plan tend to have a better chance than a bunch of pugs with no plan.

You need to ditch faction warfare and play more pug warfare. Trust me, a bad plan works more often than no plan.

Nah. No random knows what everyone has on their Mechs. Better to stick to conveying actionable information and trusting your team to use it effectively.

I prefer to use chat rather than voice. I only use voice if it's urgent, like if there's a UAV or a stealth mech.

I use chat for things like:
"2lbx20, 2lbx10, 1ermedium, dwf"
"AUTOATTACK TO LIVE! LIVE TO AUTOATTACK!"
"You just need to get 5 headshots to win"
"Watch out, enemy could get 11 headshots and beat us"

3 different types of black

And Woodland camo which is always half the price or less, take your pick than most other camoes and does a FINE job imo

Oh griefing...nvm

Means you gotta go against the flow at times and go with your gut

Look solo's you play as you want in the only queue we have left, commanding and all that generalship stuff
If people want to be organised they can go to the organised queues, queue, que
