The real problem is this... Clan stuff is lighter! Your not going to be able to even pilot the mechs you want because with IS tech they couldn't have half the weapons (Hunchback IIC), speed, armor, heat dispersal, ect.

Don't get me wrong, I freaking /HATE/ clan BS tech... but if that was my fav mech with that load out and I couldn't actually pilot that mech.... I wouldn't even bother playing it. It defeats the point. It is like taking some other 75 ton mech and slapping two PPCs and a SRM 6 rack on it and calling it a Warhammer. It really isn't a Warhammer, no matter how close I make it to a Warhammer. This is the same thing, but opposite. I get to pilot a Timberwolf, but it really isn't a Timberwolf.

You could make it cost real money and it wouldn't matter. Making it cost more doesn't stop it from being better.

All balancing aside ( be it in the matchmaking, in the c-bills and xp ratings forcing clan pilots to fight according to clan rules, salvage mechanisms, what ever), clans and theri superior tech are canon and should get in as that. Where is the fun in finaly getting to salvage a clan mech if it´s filled wit hthe same stuff you already have ?
And if the balancing is not quite right and they are over powered, so be it. Only adds to the immersion :D
I would be completely fine to wok hard for finally geting hold of some clan tech. But once I do, I want it to be worht the trouble!

Err...Clan Tech Level 2 =/= IS Tech Level 2. The technological imbalance is always there.

And for whatever reasons the Dragoons never gave the IS any blueprints for Clantech.

Probably because they wanted to keep their edge against others. New Star League and clan invasion aside they were a merc corp. Selling blueprints to the weapons ( and manufacturing methods) that made them better then their competitors would have been bad for businees. And they probably didn´t even have them all. If you send a long term undercover team you might give them equipment superior to that of the ones you want to infiltrate.. but the blueprints for it? and the factories?

Hmm... I forgot about clan honor. good luck convincing internet people to hold back whilst you attempt destruction upon an IS lance single handed. And wasn't a star 5 mechs? Maybe do 8v5?

and since when has war ever been fair?

Well convincing people might be not too hard if they get considerable less c-bill and xp when ganging up on a target. And since there will be kill assists according to the devs, implementation of that would just mean a negative sign on it for clan players :D

You 're saying "...I'm all for canon..." but you want to get rid of it. Ok This Game is all about Canon all about Battletech, all about the storyline. So please when you don't want to play this Storyline, this Canon, this Game....play some other game that is more like what you like.
And please don't say "us"

I wont be happiest until the clans are implimented. I want all BT universe mechs to be viable in MWO and will feel the game in incomplete until then. That said I also want the Clan mechs to be what they are compared to IS mechs. Doing otherwise would be unjust. Can simply make them cost more to purchase and repair/maintain. But in no way do I want them nerfed.

You can't have clan mechs without the tech that goes with them. Its like having an Atlas that throws rocks and sticks. Comstar has the stockpile of SLDF mechs and tesh at this time yes but they refused to reveal it until the battle at tukyyyid (I doubt I spelled that right). And Wolf Dragoons was the Clan Wolf undercover unit at the time and was not allowed to give the IS a heads up about the invasion or help them with the tech until they broke off from Clan Wolf later in the storyline but by then the IS aleady got ahold of clan tech so it was a moot point.

As far as I'm concerned, the Clan technology is superior in this current era, yes.

Some weapons don't generate much heat, some don't take up as much space, some plainly do more damage.

Throwing away the Clan technology concept away from this game would be a crucial mistake. It's one of the fundamental concepts of MechWarrior : getting your hands on Clan tech if you're an IS MechWarrior will turn the tides.

I suggest making Clan Tech available as a reward then, based on skill level, or something along the lines. That should satisfy everyone.

While agree with you on most of your post, making clan tech obtainable only to the upper echelon - the seriously elite - would put them *further* ahead of everyone else. Maybe instead once the clans come out, once a day you have a chance to get a piece of clan tech as a random chance (the old card choice maybe?), so then it's a lot fairer on everyone - just comes down to luck. I don't much fancy a new player (of which I plan to bring a few of into the MWO 'verse) going against someone who's both got skill and tech ahead of them. Being nuked when there's nothing you can do about it isn't fun.

HECK NO! That would kill the whole purpose of even wanting Clan tech. The Inner Sphere wouldn't try and replicate it or their 'Mechs if they only had IS weapons. Except for maybe the Omnirack. And it is canon that we get the tech and ;Mechs.

Here is what I think, but first here is my background with Mechwarrior. I never read a single BT novel or played the tabletop game. This not because I don't want to, I just haven't :D. So for me, I don't know very much about the story line other than the clans invade and have superior tech.

I play Mechwarrior for the mechs. I have no favorite mechs so there is no emotional basis in my following suggestions in order to add clan mechs in a balanced yet accurate way.

ALL of the following items would need to be added simultaneously! Not a single one alone would solve the problem.
1. Make clan tech more expensive because IT IS MORE EXPENSIVE. (Emphasis not yelling ^_^) And I mean more expensive in all respects including repair, purchase and whatever else.
2. Make server control of IS and CLAN mixing. This way a server could make:
- IS vs CLAN matches (maybe with uneven team numbers)
- CLAN vs CLAN matches
- IS vs IS matches
- and mix matches where each player can use whatever they want
On top of all of this the server host should be able to restrict any weapons, chasis, or systems just like they could in MW4.
3. Get over yourselves. Seriously, everyone is acting elitist with their mechs as if they made the original mech design. Don't get so caught up in story, chasis, or timelines that you stop yourself from being able to have fun.

Hate OP idea, mostly ecaus ei Like IS mechs and clan weapons.. not theother way around (clan hulls are UGLY).

Clan tech can be made balanced. Jsut make it SO expensive to repair that people will not use their clan mechs on more than 1 ever 5 matches.

I agree. Clan Tech is part of the canon. I think the same as the post above. balance 8is vs 4-5 Claners, but make it so you house would need to do some collective research to use it. You cant put 50cal mag in a M14. and if we found new tech on from a crashed UFO. do you think we would be strapping on our tank the same day? even in a week? No way.. come on guys/gals remember area 51. they are still trying to figure out how that thing works.. ^_^

Go Claners! I know i will hate myself when they come.. But Bring it!

that exactly.
make 5 clanners fight 8 or even 12 IS mechs.. or just use the BV system.. its there and its pretty good.. so let a uller come up vs 70 ton mechs.. and it wont be that op anymore..

I understand the power issue with using the weapons. but i don't see it being a to op just very expensive to have the option of clan xl engine. the 2 crits in left and right torso allow you to stay up longer in the fight as well as the benifit of the more weapons. just make it cost more that the standard xl engine that aare in the game as is. and on that same note it is possible for the same to be said with endo steel chasis, and firo fibros armor as well. those don't really give you op weapons just the ability of adding more weapons to the mechs.

PGI is doing a good job of balancing the game so far, and they are still working on it. I am sure they'll come up with something to balance IS vs Clan.
As far as IS getting Clan tech, instead of actually salvaging parts. You could earn "SP" Salvage Points, which in turn could be used to buy Clan tech items as they become available to IS.

adding to my previous post above its also not just about the weapons. i would love to get my hands on some of the clan sensor packages, and targeting computers if you are thinking on adding those type of items.
