Seriously, I'll be the first to admit when you're starting out and you're dropping solo, this game is lousy. It's hard, it's heavily dependent on coordination, and without much experience you're likely to get stomped more often than not. We've all been there. So I encourage everyone to check out the Houses and the Merc Corps to locate a group of like-minded players that you can join. Every house forum has a recruitment area, and the Merc Corps are no different. Go there, scan the posts, see if you may be interested in joining a clan. It really will make a world of difference in how you feel playing MWO. There's groups out there for everyone, so put yourself out there and give a few of them a try.
--- Warning: shameless promotion following ---
My own unit, the MarineMechs (a Mercenary Corporation) has recently developed a short training curriculum for new members to complete to help them adjust to life in a clan as well as help them improve their MWO experience. The training includes:
- A short introduction to MWO (both the client and forums, including a review of MWO codes of conduct)
- Suggestions on PC usage (game settings, key bindings, screenshots, frame rates, etc.)
- Suggestions on purchasing your first mech (where applicable)
- Basic gameplay tutorials (where applicable)
- An introduction to the MarineMechs code of conduct and expectations (Important to know what your clan requires of you, no matter what clan you're in!)
- An introduction to the MarineMechs website and website usage
You can check us out at MarineMechs.com.
--- Shameless promotion over ---
TL;DR- From one Mechwarrior to another, check out all the clans and groups out there. Join one that works for you, one that you'll enjoy. Then see how much fun you can have on MWO.
