Hello i noticed i'm no longer seeing the oceanic server pop up any more? I'm an Oceanic player and all i ever see is NA and EU, so i decided to drop those two and wait on an Oceanic..

Well 30 minutes later and still nothing has popped.. Is it gone or busted?

Think it died a while ago.

Stick all servers on, it's the only way to play.

No, I think it is just a rarity to get it. I could ping it in December and even got a match before I turned it and EU off.
Could also be where Samial is located.

I remember A S H mentioning 10 minute wait times around early 2020 on Oceanic only during primetime. I imagine it hasn't gotten any better since then.

I'm in Brisbane Aus, servers are in Perth. But i got a match in Oceanic and this happened..

Haha unfortunately we lost more mechs, and all of our heavies and Assaults they did not. Funnily no one rejoined.

It still exists I got a match there just the other night however most players have it turned off as they are almost guaranteed to have a laggy mess of a match so its population is near non-existent.

Yeah because this games netcode is so refined that 100ms is going to ruin your stats for sure. If I wasn't playing +99% of my matches with 280-400ms ping I would be tier 1 for sure.

the most activity Oceanic server saw was last year when PGI did it's 8v8 group test. But since soup is here everyone who came back stopped playing again.

Oceanic has been crying out for 8v8 for years and PGI as usual isn't listening to the 'island'

Now you know what its like for us Aussies with NA pings of 250 and EU of 350.. And have zero choice because those poor yanks can't handle 100+ ping times, oh the Horror..

Yeah but I figure people posting here saw the Pinned thread on this server.

Unlike some other games, MWO's Oceania is supposed to be a server for East Asia + Australia + New Zealand + surrounding areas combined thus giving a decent sized playerbase. Problem is as mentioned in the Pinned thread there appears to be some unknown serious cabling issues between Indonesia / Singapore and Australia. I do know telecom having worked in it but not that area to know specifics.

I fully believe players from this part of the world in several games should band together to try and get answers on this and fixes. I have seen enough games where they have separate servers 1 for East Asia and 1 for Australia / New Zealand. If this physical network issue I mentioned were fixed, servers in those areas in several games could combine making a serious third server as big as NA and EU ones are.

Yes, all 17 of us should fight for a more.local server even though there aren't enough to even form a single match.

This game has nowhere near the playerbase to justify more granular server locations. I was there.for the NA to SEA shift on WoT, and even they struggled for playerbase until they amalgamated all the other regional servers into the one Singapore based server.

As I said before, the games netcode and playstyle means 100ms here and there really aren't war stoppers for the vast majority of players. I get the experience of the elite may vary, but for the general pleb blaming ping is weak sauce.

You seem to have misunderstood me.

I was not advocating for more regional servers for one game there, rather:
- Get those physical connections fixed somehow improving East Asia and Oceania communications.
- Once done, there would be need for less servers as players from those areas could play together on a larger server thus having a larger number of players meaning you would have more than 17.

You also may not understand other games with bigger player numbers have this problem in this area of the world. I have seen vids like of this one Australian who discussed a game with more players yet complained the Oceania server for it also had a smaller playerbase, that game has a separate East Asia server unlike this one, many other games are similar in this region.

That does not even cover issues like games with South American servers and complaints in games about lack of African or Middle Eastern servers.

100 ping is fine...but when im on Oceanic my ping is 250-500 range. thats basically stutter warp warrior online. i dread whenever it randomly pops up (NA player here)

That's why I have it unticked permanently.
