It's called the back up shuffle it's not retreating
Well, I don't know what to tell you. The ones that will be going to your no-no-zone chances are is well equipped to just fall on basic "back-up shuffle". We've been there all before, it's the leg-chompers, the srm-bombers, the brawlers.
The slow ones like the assaults and heavies that just happen to push through your position, a simple berth would make sense, it's not exactly that "make-lemonade skill" you portray to be.
It makes sense for a protection perspective to try and nullify your LRM advantage. But you don't just charge a lrm-boat when you don't have the mobility and/or firepower to back it up, or the distance to do so, if they have the range and cover they tend to trade instead.
And you also haven't answer how "retreating" does not demonstrate awareness of spacing. I mean, wouldn't it make sense that you are retreating exactly because you know that they are coming?
