Scytale? Someone's been hitting the Dune series...

A long time ago =P I found out after the fact that it's also got a link to ancient Greek cryptography. A little bit silly, but any other name I've ever come up with for gaming has been worse, soooooo... yeah~

Oh, how wonderful! What a mindblowingly cutting thing to say! It speaks of intelligence and wit, not to mention an intimate knowledge of the demographic of the people on the forum! You, sir, must be an excellent data miner.

That's because it *is* pay-to-get-into-the beta. Founders are the ones who get into the beta. Because they showed their support by paying. When the game is released everyone will, but the game isn't released yet.

From threadings on this post, Im seriously thinking to pay $120 for a Legendary Founder Tag and Get 4 Mechs and a beta key. You convence me Scytale!

True, this was a lively but in genral rather polite and reasonable discussion

And even even if some here might be "Emotionally invested, middle-aged nerds" that in itself is not a bad thing, since it shows, that games are not a pure teen thing again.
And If heimloss based his "middle aged" assumption on people sayign they are BT fans for 20 yers by now....well those could be 30 give or take maybe 2 or 3 years. The TT rules are more complicated then snakes and ladders for sure, but nothing a child in 4th grade couldn´t cope with.

Judging by your reaction- and the way you got your feathers ruffled and insulted my intelligence- I take it that you resent being called a nerd... You know, what we all are?

Also, how old do you think the Mechwarrior fanbase is?

Honestly if you are borderline, and/or money is an issue, go for an elite founders. It still offers excellent value, even if you don't take into account the 1 founders mech and the 2 months premium time, you get $80 currency for $60. If you love the game that much after trying it I believe you can still upgrade.

I didn't really take offense, because the middle-agedness didn't apply to me (and you can call me a nerd because I know I'm one =P ) - what annoyed me is how unprovoked your statement was. Your statement was in itself an insult to just about everyone on the thread.

How old do I think the Mechwarrior fanbase is? I have no idea. I can tell you this for sure because I have not been around as long as the BT franchise, and I know there are people who have been here for as long as that. Therefore a general statement about age of the fanbase is then not applicable (unless you put an uncertainty value to it) - unless you meant a measure of centre such as mean or median. Is this what you meant? Then you should also have an idea of the standard deviation so that you can know how applicable your statement is.

EDIT: Actually man, I take all this back. I get wayyyyy too riled up about things, and it's time I took a break =P Please accept my apologies. I overreacted.

I agree with this (as you can see from my founders tag)~

No hard feelings. Perhaps a break is a good idea.
