I am most concerned with regular Gauss (both Clan and IS) because it is receiving a huge nerf. LGR changes make the weapon very different than it is now, which I wouldn't say is bad. It should be more range FLD (vs AC2 dps), not 100% on the values though.
clan guass is even more useless now, it's got 5 hp the lowest of ALL Guass and now they really killed it..

The changes in these patch notes are not even in the same galactic supercluster as what was suggested by what we affectionately call the Gulag.
you got the Ac velocity increases.

Patch looks good,
PGI, haters are going to hate, ppc are not a dps weapon. Will see how these changes go live.

What weapon is it supposed to be then :-D Sniping weapon with 270 optimal? or perhaps 540 optimal? I should start sniping with my LBx and AC10's I suppose.

Oh look at that.

PGI is going to waste our time again. Seriously who the **** asked for these specific dumb PPC and Gauss changes?

Abandon ship.

Lets just pretend you didnt say anything about the changes to PPCs, Gauss, and MASC, and instead chose to buff the damage of all small lasers, especially small pulses. Ok?

You had very well thought out community input on balance to work with, you ignore it and do this super weird thing instead?

I simply don't get it, it makes absolutely no sense.

Just roll back everything to the original TT value, forget these **** 0.00000005-555555555 cooldown ,damage, burntime , whatever patching forth and back.
Remove the Gauss charge that nobody like and buff the clanlasers burntime and remove the ****** minimum range from all missiles( ATM included) and PPC's from IS and Clan side and every player will be happy.

If these things are all bad for snipers and their pissy little poptarting tactics then it's all for the good.

it's actually a direct buff to poptarts

Mechwarrior Online is not Table Top my dude.

All of these ideas are horrible.

Thanks.

I feel the light gauss cool down is meant to nerf precisely one player. You know you've made it when you get patched out of a game.

For this first gameplay balance pass in over a year and a half, we wanted to go big with the limited resources we had available to us, and shake things up in a way that will be seen as a more aggressive change than we have typically made in the past.

<snip>

That being said, we did have a couple of disappointments in regards to this patch.

Well, I think we can all agree on that...

MWO is the Table Top itself . The mechs ,wepons ,slots, weaponsdamage and heat and everything is from the TT.
Only the burntimes and weapon cooldowns are not set in stone.
The problem is that PGI messed everything up in the name of balance and now they dont know what to do.
With every patch the game is much worse and unbalanced.
Go play Fortnite ,there is youre place .
We vant diversity in the game not only one or two metabuilds with only one or two weapontypes .

That's weird, I thought it was an online PvP videogame.

Yes, it's part of the wider Mechwarrior/BT franchise which spans a number of different iterations of multiple platforms.

It's weird that thinking "An online PvP videogame should be built as such" is an exceptional opinion.

Sounds like a you problem. I'm more than happy running a UAC2 Mist Lynx and having a positive effect on my team's win

Sticking to tabletop values brings nothing good to an Online PvP videogame.

I woke up, saw patch notes and got excited.

Then I read the finer details, facepalmed, went into the Gulag Discord and cried.

Trial mech's are good though.

Just got back into MWO after a year hiatus and was actually excited to see development picking up with what seemed to be earnest excitement just exuding from the roadmap on the PR side of PGI's house. Haven't even worked my way back into T1 on the inevitable upward curve. I was personally excited to see the new thunderbolt coming out and was considering buying the pack.

My expectations for this new stage of development have been dashed on the rocks (which I suppose matches normal PGI expectations?) and I probably am not going to be touching a mech pack or starting to put money back into the game again. If this is the quality of changes that we're going to be getting for an ongoing year then I don't really feel like it'll be worth it. The enthusiasm by the devs still looks genuine but ALSO completely out of tune with gameplay.

These changes look like someone doing panic number replacements in a spreadsheet instead of doing an objective-based approach to balance changes.

The snub PPC whose niche was brawling now had its DPS dropped and its heat spike on firing increased?

Light PPCs got dumpstered instead of buffed when they weren't even remotely a problem before?

MASC got a nerf when the chassis it was on were already pretty much a joke even with the system on it? Its entire benefit is from the mobility increases, not the speed increases. If we wanted more speed we could just take a bigger engine on a platform. (With exception to the flea, shadowcat, and executioner which are solid. Everything else ranges from meh to okay.)

LGRs got a net nerf for a system that already has no functional use?

I'm not a professional game dev, but with that being said I shouldn't be sitting here going "What the **** is this? Is this how they're going to try to keep the business running?" It's bad enough that that's my response. It's a disappointment.

Just shut this game down. Stop giving us hope just to then kill it with patch like this. If you want to kill this game then just shut it down, better than wasting yours and our time with bs patches like this one.

So if they removed the nerfs to MASC and kept the buffs, would it be OP? I'm leaning towards no.

Thanks for the information.

Please do not promote these changes to production.

I am reasonably confident that the majority of these changes do not reflect what the experienced community players have been suggesting for a very long time.

Promoting these changes into production will have a negative impact on player experience for everyone until such time as they are backed-out.

All of the pushback and emotional outbursts could have been avoided by simply reviewing the proposed changes with the community before announcing promotion dates to production. This would allow time for discussion, adjustments, compromises, and benefits for everyone involved.

If the patch cannot be halted prior to promotion to production, you have a management problem, not a resource problem.

If this is the "canary in the coal mine" for the next 5 years of MWO, then it's going to be a disaster. This looks nothing like ANY of the feedback given to PGI in the relevant threads. They clearly had these changes in mind before they even asked for feedback. Why bother asking for feedback if you're not going to respond to it?

You tell the player base not to respond with things like "Go with the Gulag!" but if something has overwhelming support, even if there's things people don't agree with or that aren't touched by it (*cough* bring MW5 Flamers into MWO *cough*), then why not use it as a solid starting point? If it matches someone's sentiment then why not allow them to throw their voice in behind a community driven balancing idea? The more support you know something has the better, right? Personally, I don't agree with plenty from the Gulag, but it at least has enough overwhelming community support to work as a springboard for balancing MWO; and that makes it something worth at least testing. Putting a hard stop to such commentary is just going to anger your community.

PGI, this is disappointing. I'm not even angry, just disappointed. Your "second chance first impression" was exactly what I expected, and that's sad. I won't keep my hopes up that next month will look any better, but if the responses in this thread are anything to go by, you're going to have to make a huge turnaround if you want community support going forward.

Why, PGI? Why do you always feel the need to request community feedback and then either half-*** the feedback suggestions or do something completely different from the feedback? This first balancing pass has the undertones of rescale all over it, where the community said "Make the oversized mechs smaller!" and PGI decided to make everything else bigger instead. Again . . . it's just disappointing.

Whelp . . . on the plus side MW5 is coming to GOG and Steam soon, and I can mod that to have good weapon balance alongside proper mech rescaling. I want to support the IP, but that's about it right now.
