lrm boats and snipers create the same problems, it brings players and armor away from their team mates since the tendency for casual players is to squat 800m away without even noticing that the teams left them on the mini map. what kind of weapon changes would change player behaviour? the lower arcs were pretty good, a range nerf?

i honestly don't see all the complaints on LRM, i play LRM boats and just about every other IS weapon (i don't play clanner mechs very much). honestly LRM has so many counters that it can be frustrating weapon system to use. if you get your own locks (i do when i can but not opposed to getting any shot in i can) you have to face time the enemy for quite a while before you can fire. a good high alpha pinpoint buid can almost core you before you can even get a shot off. no other weapon as as many counters (AMS, terrain, ECM, skill tree nodes (radar dep and such, since if you don't get that red box you can't lock), not to mention that pesky min range. hell even distance as the farther away they are the easier it is for them to doge behind cover before impact.). hell there is only one map were they really shine and that is polar (and most long range weapons can shine there) with many other maps having more than enough cover (gods forbid you get solaris when you picked your LRM boat.)

i have hand tremors (ex US Army artillery and demolitions specialist) so some days using locking weapons is the only way i do decent damage. i like that there is an indirect option gives MWO a better feel. of you want a game without indirect fire or locking weapons go play cod we wont miss you. hell Streaks are locking weapons but you don't hear near as much complaint on them. i don't even mind arty/air strikes even when the enemy is tossing them like candy. it makes for a more dynamic game.

(just as a note i try to stay around mid line when running my LRM boat, the min range on LRM means you have to stay over 200m or so from the target.) i may fire at 1000m if i have a target i think i can hit but you really want to be closer than that as the farther you are the easier it is for them to dodge.

honestly LRM are good were they are right now. the lock circle could be a touch larger but thats just me and every time there is a buff to them the meta try hard cry babies come out of the woodwork to cry about it.

honestly PGI should put their time into buffing some of the underutilized weapons. lets get some buffs going before we even think about nerfing anything, hell how about requerking some under performing or underutilized mechs first.

Streaks and (to a lesser degree) ATMs are worse than LRMs. After a single volley, your light mech is crippled. If you are up against a player with streaks and you are in a light mech, skill never enters the equation. You just lose. That might be fine for a game where you control multiple mechs but I-win buttons are bad design for an FPS. Something needs to be done with the tracking or damage scaling of guided missiles to make it so it gives an advantage to the user vs lights but not an insurmountable one.

I use twin cLrm 20 artem, with back up of 5/6 cEr meds and a light tag on tbr a, with maxed target decay. With about only 5,5 tons of ammo, i dont spam them, and almost never fire them indirectly. Firing idf lurms with limited ammo is just not worth it, and it should be like that. Firing them in direct however should be a lot more rewarding than it currently is imo.

I would agree with cooldown and idf capabilities nerf, if velocity and spread could be buffed for direct capabilities.

streaks are just as easy to counter as LRM (especially IS streaks) just stay out of range. both IS and clan ER MLs out range them and lights are fast enough to just outrun a heavier streak boat. then again i don't play many lights as moving faster than say 110kph in the game tends to give me a headache for some reason. mind you per ton they do more damage than LRM butt hat is a trad off due to their limited range.

Refined that fit a bit. Same tube count but the smaller launchers grant more health to each missile so it penetrates ams easier. Also better spread on small launchers.

Take AMS, ECM, Stealth and use cover, why reinvent the wheel. If they sync up the engines again this entire thread is redundant.

Its a fun one for sure. Just make sure to stick with the nascar as you are not fast enough to escape countering lights or mediums.

Sure. I simply dislike wasting a heavy or assault on lrm spam when you could do a front line build in them and better serve your team.

Not many mechs around that let you do all of those and still be nasty enough to fight where it matters unless you want quick play filled up with ninja lights and mediums. Posted Image

Ohh really liking the lurmster veagle so far though dropped the lrm20 for 15's since testing showed it cores mechs faster and the weight savings were put to good use. Now the poor huntsman is going to be retired.

Why f**king always the LRMs?! Learn to use them and you would see how f**king hard to use them properly on everywhere except snowy-plain highland map. Way to nerfed compared the frustrating to lock and use them effectively. A hell to kill a target with them because 8-10/12 ECM or\and AMS builds in a team. And those teams whine about LURMS ARE OP!!! NERF! NERF! NERF!

^ I like the cut of this mans jib. However they can be made to work on maps not optimal for lurms. Just gotta get into the right positions and a full jumpjet veagle can do that. Posted Image

You know i wouldn't mind the introduction of slow moving, unguided torpedos and ultra long range tomahawks or long toms with like 1 shot use.

There is an other big Problem i always "think" it´s happen, and or present. Battletech and Mechs are a absolut different Thing, to a known, or exist Weapon System. "Meta Builds", like a Shadow Cat, with ECM and 2 ER-PPC´s might work great in distance. But that´s depentend of the Situation and the Battle Done. This is valid with everting Build else.
Even the try to Build a "perfect" or specialized Mech, will determinate a "Way to Play".
And there is the Point, or just the Problem (I might see).
A Main Tank, like a Abrams or a Leopard, has a specific Role on a Battlefield. Extremly strong and useful, but also with a bunch of weaknesses. They are not able to win a Battle alone.
A Battlemech is a absolute different thing.
Just in my Feel, the most Players believe there is a Way (Build) to Afford the best. But the simple Fact is there will never be a single Person, who is able to win a Match alone (In the game Battlefield or some other Shooter, it might be...)
What do i want to tell ya...?
Well, mono Build´s (based on a single Weapon System) needs always other partner. To find Targets, to take the Dmg, or just to give u the Time to do something (farm Dmg, or Kills).
A Mech does have much more options. To ingnore all the other Equipment, just to build a perfect ER-Large Laser Build, will imeprative how u use your Mech. On this Point u are alone. But even there are some specialized Mech Cassis (like a Archer or Awesome with 3 PPC´s) u will always be one of twelve.
Teamplay, just beacause u can not win alone. Tactics, movement, able to jump, speed of your Mech, Size, specific charateristics of the Mech, Mechskills (Hit Boxes, Position of the weapon´s ect...).
I just wanna tell you all, dont try to make this Game to something, what Battlech an just a Mech isn´t.
Everbody has to do, what makes him/her/omni, happen.
But mono Build´s in Mass, fixed "Tactics" like "Nascar", circle, takes a lot of Fun away. Why run in the Middle of a Map in a Skirmish Game? Why don´t "Nascar" in a Faction Play Game like Siege (as attacker?). There it would be make sence, but many Peolple try to snipe? Even a armored force would not drive headless arround.
Hate me or don´t. For me every Wepaon System and special support System has a reason.
A Mech with just a hundred LRM´s, and 4000 Rounds Ammo is useless. Why? It´s not your power to make big Numbers (Kills / Dmg) it was your Teammates. Like this would never work in any Game i know, if u are alone (and if every Mech would carry a AMS.. well you would not even care about). But there is no Way to escape 6 ER-Large Lasers, just because you try to find out, where the "Red´s" are....
I can say only say one thing for myself: "I play, because i grow up with Battletech and i love this Uniververse and the Idea of a Mech." And i will ever use everything possible to be a Part of my team. And jeah, i will use LRM´s, but not in a Distance of 1000 Meters standing alone, never without a Beagle Active Probe, never without any other Weapons and if possible (Modell) with AMS, ECM, TAG. And i will never have so many Rounds of Ammo to blow six Mech´s (Example) away. Because i'am just one of twelve and i will every Time share Armor and switch my Targets fast to support my Team (of curse, thats never every time possible :/, but hey, it´s a Game...and i´am a Idiot anyways, even in RL...)
Do what you think thats good for you and make´s u happy. For me, what makes me happy is to Play with u all and enjoy Mechs, Fights (and there might be the Point, i have to change my in-Game Name...)
I'am grateful for this Post, for u all, because u give me me a good time online, playing MWO (and i did play every existing Battletech Game, but none as long than this).
