Because clan ac20 comes in 3 shells and it's garbage, IS ac20 comes in1 single shell and it's stronger.
Plus, multiple 2ac20 is mechs have loads of quirks, clan ones do not.
The AC20 change is one of the few changes in the Cauldron patch I'm disappointed with for several reasons.
Firstly while clan ACs fire multiple shells to call it 'garbage' is a pretty big helping of hyperbole. Those shells fire quite rapidly and most of the time land where you intended them to go - it's only when facing a very twisty opponent that you would spread the damage around.
Secondly don't forget that clan AC20s are also 2t lighter and one slot smaller than IS ones so there should be some penalty to keep them balanced and multiple shells seems like a fairly small issue to a lot of players. I note that the shell count is being reduced too. I also understand that there is a different view for extremely skilled players where the multiple shells are more of an issue due to facing highly skilled players who can counteract them better.
As other people have said it doesn't seem fair or internally consistent with the Cauldrom premise that Clan AC20 should be measured against IS HGauss when balancing. One of the reasons dual HGauss is so popular is that dual IS AC20 has that heat penalty that makes them far less fun.
Could the Cauldron please consider making another balancing pass for IS AC20 and either allow two to be fired at once, reduce the ghost heat penalty multiplier further, or even lower the base heat value. The current proposed 31% (32 rounded up?) heat for firing two at once will mean that a dual IS AC20 mech will still rapidly heat up.
and lastly, can I please get some pity for my triple AC20 loyalty Victor that immediately shuts down if you fire all three AC20....! <puppy eyes>
