It works wonders for the piranha or the flea sneaking up behind your firing line. The sneakers never open up on you at over 200m, which means you always get a blip before they fire. Hard turn and take those 15 micro lasers to the arm instead of the rear CT!
Literally the reason I started using it, even before the skill tree switch. I tend to get very focused on what I'm shooting at, but that little blip usually has enough movement to it that it will catch my attention. Depending on the turning speed of the 'mech I'm in, I can usually make them leave part of themselves behind.

Huh. Weird. I've never used seismic since they locked it behind the sensor skill tree, which I never bother putting points in, but I remember I used to use it alot in the way back when. Corner checking with seismic only works if they're moving though.
Personally I'll skill up operations and armour, dependent on how often I overheat first, with mobility thrown in after if I need more torso speed for better twisting, and finally firepower once I've settled on a loadout.

It's extremely rare for me to see
anyone standing
perfectly still. Usually they're dancing back and forth a little bit, trying to scan the area and get that
perfect leg angle, or that
perfect amount of cover where they can shoot everything on both sides without hitting the wall, etc. Also, matches usually go fast enough that not many people stand still waiting around a corner unless they already peeked it and saw a lot of enemies. If a light 'mech is off flanking, anyone around that corner is probably pulling the same stunt.
