Sadly no, I'm just that good... it is my cross to bear.

But don't let that put you off, because I put my pants on the same way as you, just one expertly informed and brilliant leg at a time.

Why has there been no word from PGI or the Cauldron regarding the June patch yet?
It's still two weeks out, when it's been fairly rare to get more than a week's notice about the patch contents.

Quote

Even if they are still ironing out the numbers, why is the rest of the community being kept out of the discussion?
Because it's not a discussion for the peanut gallery. Which, unfortunately, most of the community qualifies as.

Quote

The Cauldron has done some great work, but it would be better to at least be able to contribute.
I get how you feel, but let's face the reality - most of the community can hardly understand balance if it bit them on their ***, and some of the "balance" proposals that have been tossed around before were either self-serving or absolutely ******* idiotic (sometimes both), and presented by people simultaneously too conceited to realize they might be wrong and so sensitive they considered any criticism a personal attack.

Letting everyone into the process means letting that bunch into it as well, with the predictable end result being no balance, just a massive flamewar.

You all do know that there are discord channels for the cauldron right? They give and take info there fairly frequently. Also the easiest way I found to get answers to direct questions. PGI is not in these channels...at least I have not seen any devs.
Last stated info was that June will be the rest of the mobility changes, plus a revised version of polar.nothing is final though.
Cauldron channels in mw5 discord and in mwo comp discord.

they are just too busy fixing mw5 bugs, that is if they are actually fixing them rather than sweeping them under the rug.

Yes! Thank you for posting that. The image in the video mentions mwocomp.com/patches, but that site doesn't have a link to the video, so how did you find it? This one was on bear_cl4w's youtube page, but I'll want to find them regardless of which Cauldron member posts them. I'm a bit surprised that he didn't make a forum post linking to the video.

Summary of some of the main things from the video:
The new Polar Highlands is confirmed for the June patch! (This is absolutely fantastic to hear.)
All the remaining mobility changes are confirmed for the June patch.
A lot of resources went to the MW5 launch, so it isn't likely (but not 100% confirmed) that anything else will be included in the June patch. bear_cl4w specifically mentioned that jump jets will likely be coming later.

When the quirks drop later on, it is likely (but not 100% confirmed) that they'll be split into two months, with defensive quirks dropping one month and offensive quirks the other. No mention on which is likely to come first if this is the case (although defensive quirks would certainly make more sense). The video is only 7 minutes and is absolutely worth a listen.

Thank you bear_cl4w for giving us a bit more insight into what is going on.

Ah, I didn't realize that it was posted only a few hours ago; I would have found it there. If the Cauldron members post vlogs to r/outreach that'll also be a great place to find them.

Please allow Clan OmniMechs with option to unequip JumpJets, upon player's discretion!
(just like before).

Its my understanding that type of item is hardwired into a omni mech. Also some variants like the Summoner II removes the jump jets for more weapon space, and the Hellbringer II moves slower but carries more weapons. What the Omnis need is way higher survival quirks across most of the omnimechs. Some of the omnis need to have there other quirks adjusted as they were obviously made for a time, when clan weapons worked completely different.

Wow, many thanks for head-up to a very interesting (short and succinct) talk from the Cauldron representative!

One important point worth repeating, as brought in this talk (4min 35sec mark in the above video):

If you find that something is "broken" to you (eg: Streak SRM--w0qj's example), please give more suggestions on how you feel should be improved, rather than just continuously complaining on the MWO forums that "this is not what you want" (w0qj's words).

In fact, Cauldron rep said that if you keep complaining something is "broken" but you do not propose idea/details on how to fix this, you may eventually be ignored, as no actionable info from you!

I agree, it's completely pointless to just say 'this is bad' without also pointing out what makes you think it is, it's just noise distracting from actual useful discussion at that point.

It's worth noting that a very firm truth of video game design (and game design in general, really) is that the average user has no idea how to fix a 'broken' issue. An average user is terrible at game design, but they're very good at knowing/recognizing what Isn't Fun.

Even if you can't come up with a solution proposal, that's okay. Describing what you find to be unfun, trying to leave feedback on why something isn't working for you can sometimes be as valuable as a keen idea for fixing things.

"This sucks!" is mostly useless.

"I'm having a lot of trouble with [X Thing]. Here's what's been bothering me about it" is way more useful, in that it gives direction and actual feedback to the people doing the fixing.

the absurdly long 7.5s/8s jam duration on ISUAC10 and CUAC10 isnt fun. Would like to see the jam duration on both of those reduced to at least 6s if not less.

I would also like to see the ghost heat penalty removed on CUAC5s (or at least raise the limit from 3 to 4). If CUAC2s have no ghost heat penalty at all and you can fire upto 8 of them simultaneously then certainly CUAC5s should have a less strict ghost heat limit than 3.

Normally 3rd Tuesday right?

That would be 6/15.

But that's not the third week.. Which has been the cycle. I honeslty don't know why they are doing monthly patches, It seams like a waste of time for Q&A, I am a much bigger fan of 3 month cycles on smaller games. Why spend a full 3 weeks on builds? (aka a about a week to finalize) A couple extra weeks of hard coding sounds like i could be more productive and get us more substantial patches.

ohh well, next week is week 3.

  • Because mobility values are what was proposed for May patch but could not all make it. So that's what June will be
  • Quirks - because we have not reached internal consensus yet. When we do, as we have for ALL things so far, proposal will be posted. Don't expect that to change, that's our process.

I have no idea what is up with folks.. They already said that they are doing minor patches up till MW5 rolls out, and in august MWO will pick up. They told us this stuff 6 months ago..

But thank you for updating this aspect, it is basically confirmation that everything is going exactly as they said back in nov/dec with slight delays which happens in all development.
