Light Mechs Too Powerful

That's the real reason these threads never die - when an assault 'Mech kills someone, that someone just assume they got overmatched by more tonnage and that's the end of it - tonnage did what it's supposed to. When someone in a Supernova or a Highlander or a Muck-Tew or a Fatnir or whatever else dies to a Piranha, Mist Lynx, Cheetah, or whatever else they weren't able to kill before it opened their butt and twisted the knife? They know it's because they failed, and they can't stand that feeling. Dying to a light pilot, losing a fight to that light 'Mech, exposes their own poor skill in a way they can't deny.
But because every Tier ~3.5 and under Puglandian nobody secretly assumes they're God's gift to giant stompy robit fights and they're only in the lower tiers because they pilot "fun" 'Mechs instead of meta nonsense, they deny it anyways and assume the light 'Mech is just ridiculously overpowered because how dare it do its job and be super slippery and hard to squish and be a significant threat to isolated targets who've wandered too far afield or to opened-up, weakened targets that don't need much work to finish off. They'd much rather take a river cruise down Denial and assume the game is simply robbing them of their rightful glory than admit their own suck and take any action to improve.
Or to just own their own suck and play for shits, regardless of what they die to. I mean ****, I've been running around in this adorably gobshyte Paralyzer just having a blast with light peeps, considering it a win if I...y'know, win...or even if I just do enough damage and live long enough to justify the memery. Enemy butt shredders want to waste their time chasing me down and ending me because Peepalizer Lightningnips is terrible at countering their ****? Coolio - use my death to gain even greater power, Fatbros. Avenge me with your turgid, throbbing autocannons and untainted buttocks. Allow my distraction of the Despoilers of Taints to grant you a window to murder the rest of the enemy team with. And if you fail to do so because you're low-tier Puglandians too busy chickendicking behind rocks nine hundred meters from the enemy playing Janken to figure out who has to grow a pair and push first?
Oh well. There's always next drop.

explain to me right now how the Spider, a 30-ton mech with at most four ballistic hardpoints, is as powerful as an assault.
im not sure about the spider because its fairly inept offensively but other light mechs definitely meet his criteria.

Cou and adr can. Only one is light can BUTT you need xl 200 and hope you never get noticed to get behind an ***. I should return to light and my Jenner and run only my non-oxide jenners. Might be fun seeing a new jenner op must nerf thread after a few years.

So what's the issue? Why is it a problem that lights allow for more skilled play?

The issue is they get abused by light mechs, but when they try themselves they fail.
Also they clearly only see the ones that do well, but somehow miss on all the light mechs that get deleted early on, or run in to put UAV and die, or the ones that end up living the entire match with 80 damage done and 0 kills.

As a regular "slow light" pilot:
Look at a Panther.
Look at an Awesome.
Look at an Adder.
Look at a Warhawk.
Did you think about the words you were typing before you hit "post"?

Yeah you're 100% right, I'm willing to bet 9/10 people who complain about lights on here just had a match where they got dunked on my lights and are butthurt.

Sure i cant but we all know many of them can laser vomit, show me an assault with 15 weapon points.

Seriously, i get it you want to keep easy mode with lights but pretending there are those that cant deal a substantial alpha is ridiculous. Lights should not have speed, armor and weapons comparable to an assault, hell you want to really prove it show me a light that goes 49 kph and i may agree they dont have an overwhelming advantage. Speed is everything, while assaults are playing mech warrior lights are playing anime mech combat with high speeds. What advantage do assaults get? bigger hitboxes? lol.
hell lets look at the urbie bud, its suppose to be slow.. but there are no such limits in game and i know mine is pretty damn fast. That is soo the lore right?

Ah yes keep ignoring that vid of one being hit by twin heavy guass, the speed in the game gives them added armor through server lag. Furthermore the direworlf is unfortunately slow bud, so even having those hardpoints its not going 149kph or doing much more than being a giant hitbox that is easily targeted. So yes, they really do.

just shoot the light. There's one light that has confirmed jank hitreg, and that's the commando, and I'm pretty sure that doesn't carry 15 weapons. Pirahnas die with a wet fart, as do fleas.

The flea survived the DHG hit with one HP. One glancing laser blow will kill it, if it didn't take one earlier.
Plus, the dire wolf (and executioner!) can match/almost match the piranha for hardpoints while having signficantly more tonnage for bigger guns that deal more damage at a longer range - I was 10t underweight when I tried to give the executioner the piranha loadout.

and being a light.. why should it even survive that? it is a light mech son not a heavy or medium or assault.. and btw those are less likely to survive because they cant get away.. but hey lets ignore reality eh?

DHG shot is 50dmg, thats not even impressively high, its also extremely rare for a fast light mech to survive that without getting crippled, and even then its gonna die to a laser graze.
You asked for an assault with lots of hardpoints, there you go, i gave you one, and ofcourse its not gonna go fast, its an assault.
Furthermore, having same amount of hardpoints on a 20t mech, and a 100t mech does not equal same firepower.
Its a big slow box, with significantly more armor and firepower than any light mech.
So lights got speed, heavier mechs got armor and firepower.
What are you confused about?
