Used to be free TS3 community chats last time I played.
Have they migrated to discord?
Is there an official MWO Discord?

There is in game comms you can turn on. Its In The settings. I think most groups have moved to discord because it's free

Thanks, that explains the almost complete lack of ingame voice comms after I've switched computers and reinstalled MWO.

Actually had to recheck my MWO audio settings to ensure nothing wrong with my ingame voice comms.
(Guess I'll enjoy the peace & quiet while playing then).

Sometimes after windows updates, the way it loads a patch and audio devices, you have to reset them sometimes.


As for TS Hubs, they are mostly dead these days with Discord taking over. Discord has advantages but to simply log onto a server and see a dozen units dropping and comms channels - TS was absolute king there and still is, just not many use nowadays.

Best to find a community hub discord and drops that way.

I'd link mine but it has an acquired taste haha.

And not for the emotional or sensitive types, and definitely not if your going to claim something is true when it's not... It's like a game of stacks on.

We might be the only dinosaurs still using TS but honestly discord just seems to full of options that none of us care for. It's nice to be able to jump in, see which dropship the guys are in and join that channel.

I find the amount of in game comms is about the same as since they first gave it to the community, usually later at night than other times.

Used to be free TS3 community chats last time I played. Catch to those channels was, someone had to pay for the channel, typically out of pocket.

Is there an official MWO Discord? Sadly, no, unlike TS, there are no dedicated Discord servers. We in The HHoD used to host the Davion TS, But Have not done so for Discord, though it is something we were discussing the other day so it "Might" be something we will be attempting again as a few of our pilots have mentioned how they missed guys from other units "Dropping in" to our channel and dropping with us.

you will notice also the higher Tier you go the less communication over in game VC there is. (oddly enough there higher you go the more nascar there is (odd considering this is the worst tactic one could chose)).

Discord is new popular form but it's bloated POS trash they is full of twitchy eye candy. It's inferior for simple streamlined use.
It's superior for getting to contact with all the other channels but its all a bunch of stream chaff.

We are still using/paying for rodcbr1.teamspeak3.com. We dropped capacity to 25 but if anyone wants to use a dropship it's free to use and no password. At this point I'm not going to increase capacity unless usage demands but we typically only have between 2 and 8 people on so there's plenty of room.

I Admin/Mod a number of severs...

My own discord is 600 users.
MWO Comp is ~1500-2000 users
WC3 ~ 2k-3k users

I'm also on much larger ones with 20k+ users.

Wanna know over 4 years how many have had issues with Malware? ZERO.

It takes about 30-60mins to properly setup a discord to stop any such events occurring with spam links, fake users and malware.
It is not "easily infected" at all.

Please don't spread misinformation.

I'm not sure how it's stream chaff, could you explain that to me? Personally, I find discord to be the superior platform in every way. It functions as a forum/chatroom for you and your friends/unit/etc, functions as a instant messenger (you can install discord on your phone and always be in contact with your friends/unit/etc), functions as a out of game VOIP. I can check my phone at any time, and see if my friends are playing a game, message them, chat about random things in the text channels, all without needing to be at my computer.

I said it was superior for contacting your buddies. I don't really care about connecting with most people here. Never mind the streams which I feel has caused some of our MWO problems. I'd rather disconnect with all those that you're trying to connect to. It's nothing but noise to me but to each their own.

I didn't need an explanation of the word chaff. There's no "streams" on discord, other than to share screen with your buddies. Twitch is the stream service, Discord is a communications platform, which you use to connect with your buddies, has nothing to do with connecting with people here any more than TS, Mumble, Ventrilo, Skype, Whatsapp, MSN messenger, ICQ, the list can go on and on.

You want to be solo and not "connect" with anyone, that's cool, to each their own. There are lots of others that do, and Discord is the superior platform at the moment.
