Yeah, my experience in QP (which is what I play- heck, when I last played the other modes didn't even exist!) is pretty much "You're on your own, if you're lucky maybe some will spot a target or two- maybe." I have a friend I play with, he knows I'm in something with LRMs and will spot. Outside of that, I cannot count on a spot, so I'm usually prepared to get my own locks. Though, that has gotten me killed a few times when I thought the team was pushing and I suddenly found myself stranded because of tunnel vision.

I've actually gotten decent kills with the 15s so far (When I don't make a stupid mistake that seems me dead within the first few minutes). Often either Lights or overconfident Assaults. But with how the matches often play out with extended periods of extreme range/ heavy cover, I am seriously considering swapping to the 20s.

Edit: Out of curiosity, why the small pulse lasers on the 20 build? Wouldn't medium lasers be better overall?

Same weight. Small pulse lasers are better when there's a mech hugging your face, medium lasers are better when there's a mech at 300-400 meters. personal preference, but I side with the medium lasers myself on the grounds that yes, they're not as good against a face hugger, but they're a real damage multiplier when your LRMs are working someone over.

Many thanks for everyone's input!

Have just put up a "The fine art of mechlab mech customisation" here:
