I really had fun there! Maybe not my headsets... but looking back i had really fun!!! Why play it now?!

Because it's fun to play, in your experience?

If people are only playing a mode because of the rewards then the mode should be re-developed or pulled.

This move is completely unsurprising and long overdue.

Removing the rewards doesn't and didn't need to happen though. It's still a large time commitment and while not a ton of people played it what objectively is gained by removing the rewards?

Who do the rewards hurt by existing?

As for my actual contribution to this discussion. Honestly? I would just can Solaris as a mode and drop it from the game nameplate. It had its run and it failed to live up to the hype. The resources that would be used to fix it would arguably be better spent elsewhere fixing other issues and generally making the game increasingly more enjoyable.

This said, if salvaging Solaris truely is to be a thing then readjust the divisions or better still, do away with them. As in lore, different custom mechs of different weights just duking it out in an arena. Provide better rewards from taking a sponser perhaps as well, maybe even hold a Solaris only event to earn one of the Solaris hero mechs or the hero Roughneck (who's lore was written to belong to a solaris 7 champ). Players need incentive to play, otherwise its not worth keeping the mode.

You'd honestly have a better shot at bringing Escort back with updated features and better AI. Perhaps let the VIP first its weapons every once in awhile, change up the VIP mech between several different randomly selected assaults so its not always an Atlas. Perhaps even allow AI CVs in for both sides to make the fight truely feel chaotic (and also give an in for possible vehicle inclusion in the future?)

Thanks i'll take the genius comment as a compliment. But you are still wrong. Solaris were the same amount of games and people for the last 2 years. It broke the second the Starting Event was done anymore. Cause most people waited for their own season to start when the Solaris event started. And in constrast to you, i was playing it without a break for the last 3 years... so please start a new thread if you want to complain about cauldron...

Still finding it hilarious how many people who actually have nothing to contribute, because they never liked S7 and thus didn't play it have to comment "good its dead". Are you also jumping into forum discussions for discontinued games you don't own, just to comment "yeah, good it is finally dead"? Get a life please! And respect others who have fun in gamemodes YOU don't like...
It didn't hurt you that S7 was around did it? So why guys... WHY?!

Solaris has been as dead as a doornail for as long as I can remember, and I showed up in late 2018, not sure why you're blaming the cauldron for this.

If we're to revive the mode, we're probs best off just dividing it into weight classes (or just matching people within like 10 tons either way) or something rather than the weird division thing. Keep it simple.

PGI said they want to improve 'new player experience' and as far as solaris goes.. imo, implementing all these weapon buffs is NOT doing that in solaris where a mech can be taken down in seconds once the fight begins.

Solaris was dead 2 weeks after it released and cauldron haven't done a single thing to it because noone cares about it besides people who farmed it for rewards instead of adding to population of QP or FP. The hell you smoking?

This is a bad idea as it was an alternative for skilling mechs to people who would rather uninstall than suffer through grinding mechs in quick play.

I don't smoke.. i don't deliberately poison my body.. but after this i'm done repeating myself: the changes implemented by cauldron affect solaris.. pgi wants to improve new player experience.. cauldron changes do not do this, in fact they do the opposite.

BTW Solaris wasnt dead after 2 weeks.. i enjoyed it for a few years at least.. and returned every now and then. But it has been on a downward slope with less players participating every season.. cauldron's changes didn't cause the decline but they didn't help a bit either.

Not entirely true, cause if someone likes to play solaris, he might as well log on exactly for that... or just don't log on at all...

Pretty much because of some comments from this thread: GSP rewards that are way more efficient way of skilling your mechs then playing QP.

I just realized I'm extra sad because I bought multiple mechs in the past few months specifically for Solaris divs to prepare for next season

Solaris is (was) a ranked competitive game mode. Just like any ranked competitive game mode in any game ever made, a new player is always going to have a hard time facing off someone who has more experience. This would be the same if the Cauldron changes had been made or not. The solution to prevent new players from getting curb stomped (aside from completely gating the game mode) is to attract more players to the game mode to give the matchmaker a chance to match players of equivalent skill, but the difficulty here is that players don't want to be curb stomped so they don't give the game mode enough population to facilitate fair matchmaking

We get that you have a hate ***** for the Cauldron, we really do, but the continuous red herrings you throw makes you sound like a conspiracy nut

I had fun playing S7, i had fun streaming Solaris, people had fun watching Solaris steams..
ALSO i wouldn't be where i am today, skill wise and especially comp-wise if it wasn't for Solaris. It helped me git gut. I understand people not liking the gamemode, cause there is noone else to blame for their losses.
But i bet i would not have gotten my Div A/B/C spots in comp, if i wouldn't have shown the good players, that i can aim/shoot/position... in ******* S7!

Good on you man but 95% of playerbase doesn't give a **** about it. It was PGI's biggest marketing flop over history of MWO probably only after golden mechs. Reason why I never touched solaris: if I want to play 1v1s for my enjoyment I'll go ping Bowser or any other friend of my skill level rather then farm some herp derps in whatever is currently single meta mech of the division. Same goes for getting gud, you can ask quite a lot of good players in the game for some 1v1s and they are likely to help. When I only joined RJF 5 years ago I started dueling Lizzee and in 2 weeks I went from doing like 200 dmg in qp to frequent 1000+ in laservomit Timberwolf.

Well you would have to start somewhere. And i got recruited out of S7 to my first Unit. And i got into my second because of Comp. I got the Comp Spot because i knew peoole through the first Unit, and got considered because of my 1v1 capability...

I will personally be logging off while nothing is happening with comp or fp. Killing off solaris will not make me and other people who do not enjoy qp play it.

And my experience was that random 58% noname (look at my Sep 2016 stats https://leaderboard....=denAirwalkerrr) just asked good players to help get gud without convoluted mess that is S7 and in few weeks got into 90% and then joined RJF main comp team in I think about 2 months. So your personal experiences are cool and all but it doesn't justify not removing any insentive to play this gamemode especially when it (even if by not much) hurting QP numbers.
