lately i have been using a long range build (see i say long range not sniper). also before you start bitchin keep in mind i don't care about meta crap and just play to have fun. its a fun build that i am quite effective in, meta try hard crybabies can go bawl in a corner somewhere else.

STK-3FB (2 ER-LL, 3 ML, 2 LRM-15 (4t ammo) running an LE-300, 8 DHS and of course ECM. armor is LFF (no endo) with full values all over (11pnts back each ST and 13pnts back CT) minus 1 pnt in the head

my preferred engagement range is around 400m-600m. honestly as long as someone is putting out damage and working with the team i don't care what they are running. hell matches have been a LOT more fun since they changes this year. not only the balance passes for weapons but quirk passes for mechs (hence the above build since the STK-3FB got a +1 sec target retention quirk) and map revamps.

i have never been one for the whole armor sharing nonsense. share aggro to use an MMO term very much yes but if you are taking damage and not dealing any out or getting vaped in 2 seconds than that "armor sharing" was worthless. hell simply presing R can more of a boon than that as it can give data to the rest of your team. either in a lock for an LRM mech or just letting people know the target location and status data if they also press R on it. it can be the difference between a dead enemy and a damaged one if you know say the R torso is cherry when you pop that hill to fire. you now know where to hit without anyone calling coms.

a sniper mech is valid choice if you work with your team. just like LRM they all have their place and if used within their role and alongside a team can do real work especially with the new map revamps that make play styles other than brawl effective. honestly if you are playing a sniper build make sure that you are engaging with in you optimum range so you do full damage. don't waste those shots. also keep close enough to your team that they can support you if things get dicey. its all about using your head for more than a hat rack.

Within their role is part of the factor why 100tons are special

Compositions of 100 tons are able to play any role

Factor why assault was provided LRM is because of drawback.

The drawback is counter fire and map limitations

Lighter mechs had the advantages of shooting LRM in the back

AMS breaking key mechanic without need of sensory to spot missiles

It is possible to balance missiles to make them vital for light mechs

Clan tends to have less roles and combined arms.

Maybe because clans have the best Light and IS has the best Heavy

The assault are based on a doctrine ;

To kill a mech send in a bigger and heavier mech with better guns

backstandin as Sniper or sharing armor not the Problem ,when
-the sniper serach active Targets and make his part to damage and kill the Reds
-her not use Trollbuilds like a Battlemaster with a Single Large Laser ,a LRM 10 and 20 t Ammo for the both Weaponsystems
-The Special build not 50% of the Matchtime is lost Firepower for the Team

The problem in solo drop is that most people attempting to play assault or any sort of sniper sit back literally at one edge of the map and try to snipe at whatever happens to come into their line of sight... usually at over 1k meters or some silly extreme range, never move, and get slaughtered by the first light that finds them because they slapped such a slow engine in their mech to load up on gauss.

Again that is a person who doesn't know/understand snipers, NOT someone "misusing assaults"

also engine size is no longer tied to agility
