I game on Predator Helios 300 with GTX 1660-Ti + Intel i5 9th-gen. Playing a 9 year-old game, I get 60 FPS on training grounds, 19 to 25 FPS during matches.

For reference, I get 120 FPS on Doom Eternal, full 60 FPS on MechWarrior 5, both of which are younger.

Have you run the MWO Repair tool?

Deleting shaders also helps sometimes.

I play on steam.

Already did.

I also use Vaad's Tweaks.

that's low. With the Helios being a laptop, make sure you're not heatcapped and that your powersaving options are on max performance.

Not sure what you mean. But my heat during gameplay is like below 70c, around 64c actually.

He talks about windows energy management, I suppose; on top of that, "mobile" CPUs (like in laptops) may be heat-throttled via BIOS/ UEFI etc. just have a look into both I guess.
also make sure your laptop is plugged into power, because if it's running on battery, there's almost always automatic throttling down.

I know how to game on my laptop. I have a laptop-cooler and everything.

I'm even playing on good FPS on MW5 and Doom Eternal. If I was doing it wrong, like not plugging in my laptop while gaming, I wouldn't reach those FPS on Doom.

As a single player game, Doom Eternal is far less demanding on CPUs. For the same reason, you get 3x the frames on training grounds than live. If you want to try to fix the problem, you can try to install and config a program called ThrottleStop (https://www.ultraboo...ttlestop-guide/) which when used correctly can improve CPU performance on laptops or at least show you if there is thermal throttling crippling your performance.

Low on most settings, very high on texture.
From 22 to 27 after this setting. Solaris City is still ******* my FPS though.

Grats on the new laptop, I know you were looking into a new laptop a few years ago. Unfortunately, at least for MWO, anything else it was more of a sidestep than an upgrade but many of your other programs and games will likely benefit from it. The GPU is much better than that Nvidia 740m the previous laptop had, but MWO is more CPU bound than the other games listed, as there are lots of threads showing how just increasing CPU by 0.5gig+ with overclocking can have a decent increase in FPS.

New laptop CPU - i7-9750H - 6cores (12 threads)
Frequency 2600 MHz
Maximum turbo frequency 4500 MHz (layman's TEMPORARY overclocking, not meant to be always on)
Low power frequency 800 MHz (only need one of the cores to hit the thermal threshold, then the system throttles entire CPU to this, even if for a sec or two to allow that core to cool down below that threshold)

Previous laptop CPU - i5-5200U - 2core (4 threads)

Frequency 2200 MHz
Maximum turbo frequency 2700 MHz (1 core)
2500 MHz (2 cores)

The differences between live play and the testing grounds is primarily the overhead with other players on the field.

60 fps must be nice. I'm using an old 2012 amd rig which costed $1800 at the time. Game runs fine for me and I play lights at 25-35 fps until sore laris which takes 10-15 off being the shitiest map in game. Must be nice having the money for newer pc tech and complain about just 60 fps as medicore. Since my rig is used for emulation I still have a lot of games and systems to entertain me besides mwo.

Predator has this program called "Predator Sense", that shows the temperature during operation.

During gameplay my PC hits only around 64c. If anything my pc goes way hotter with MW5, despite having faster frame rate. I know that it's not thermal throttling.

That Predator Sense appears to have some functionability.

1. Fan cranked up on Max?
2. Overclocking section.. set to Normal, Fast or Extreme?
3. The above two at least set with a MWO profile?
4. And since you have had it a few years, still keeping the heatsinks clear of dust buildup?

And System Power Control set to High Performance while plugged in? I believe this was asked before but posters got a I know how to work my laptop.. :)

And with the Nvidia Control panel, 3D, power management mode set to Max Performance?

As for the difference between Throttlestop and Predator Sense, the differences may be on which one will allow you to keep the laptop running at a higher CPU speed than the baseline, especially since you have only mentioned Predator Sense but not what settings are being utilized.

As for the game, are you using an AA, either in-game or Nvidia settings?

Left it on auto. One brushless fan already got burnt off and I had to replace it. Got little traumatized in seeing Predator Sense showing 0 RPM on one fan TBH.

Normal. I don't want to burn my laptop off with constant overclocking. Never needed it before on other games though, even with Black Mesa Xen.

Cleaned it somewhat recently (few months before when I had to replace one brushless fan)

Left it on Balanced, and PCI processor power output capped at 95% to not burn it out.

Left it on Optimal Performance.

First. Engine is borked, without hope of rescue! Just heaaaaaaaavy modified cry engine and no one knows how to handle this stuff nowadays. Cryengine was build under estamiation of rising higher single core speeds (btw u remember can it run crisis meme?)
For mwo only sc core clocks matter. U can't compare 2 godly optimised doom.

Only thing u can do beside of oc is the higher energy settings. Test if it helps u. Problems in connection result in low fps 2 so use wired connection if possible. And never use fullscreen!!!!!!!!!!!! Only full windowed, but this is another topic.

I never quite understood why some games just run better in full windowed instead of fullscreen. Both show the same amount of pixels so the calculations should be very similar for both.
Guess its some windows specific fu** up.

Change in power state for the gpu. Client can't handle it. Normally no problem in modern titles...

Interesting. I am never dropping below 60FPS in MWO aside from that little hitch as you first load in or drop out of the leopard.

You should absolutely be getting better performance than that. Heat throttling (Remember MWO runs on one core), over clocked wrong, fancy graphics issues (Might be upscaling?) are all possible.

Is your PC running in "full power" mode, since I notice that you're on a laptop?

Edit: A quick google lead me here:
https://community.ac...s-300-fps-drops

Dunno how viable this is or how realistic but it seems like it might be something about that specific hardware on certain games.

If you are running things at lowest, then AA is likely turned off.

And, at least for some test runs, make a profile for MWO in Predator Sense and tweak it, no need to have the laptop run full throttle all of the time. The profiles can be deleted if you decide to stick with the basic settings.

If you aren't really looking for assistance though, will leave it at time.

I've been having oddly good performance lately, so, if my performance improved and yours degraded, that just tells me this client is absolutely ******.
