Point of Sales clients are woeful and could use serious optimization. I've seen some still using Windows XP.
Edit: Let's be real here, OP is playing on a laptop for starters, my rig runs MWO perfectly fine on 150fps, it drops down to about 120fps with lots of blooming effects but that's to be expected.
i7 9700k OC @ 4.8Ghz
32Gb DDR4 @ 4kMhz
ROG Strix RTX 2070 Super
1TB Samsung 970 Pro M2 SSD
For reference.

At what resolution at settings? My rig is significantly more powerful, yet I get 50+ fewer FPS than you do.

I didn't see any frame difference between a 1080ti and 3080ti, without a cpu upgrade.

I am running 1440p maximum with no AA. That shouldn't cause nearly that level of FPS drop given the difference in our cards.
You will find that MWO is more CPU reliant than GPU.
Do you water cool your CPU? You can get a pretty good boost to performance. Prior to water cooling my rig I was only able to overclock it to 4Ghz without it going over 60 degrees. Now at 4.8 it sits comfortably on 40-50 degrees under load.
Edit: You also have an AMD CPU, which is prone to being ****

Custom loop with an Optimus Foundation on the CPU and an Alphacool Aurora on the GPU. AMD may have been weak in the past but Zen 3 is pretty damn awesome.

I could understand it being CPU bound if any of my cores was being strained. I guess I will just chalk it up to the engine and accept what I have. MW5 hits my monitor's frame rate cap with the (non-RTX) settings at maximum.

you know a lot of players could increase their performance with an after market cpu cooler. lets be honest, how many of you are still running stock coolers?

Asus GTX1060 6gb
Asus P8Z68-V Gen3 mobo
16gb ddr 3
WD blue 1tb HDD
Win 10 Home premium..
Other than Australian ping/latency the game runs flawlessly for me..
