I am not that certain that PGI can prove to MS that its worth extending it. IIRC PGI makes hardly any profit from MWO so I don't see how they want to pay MS. Also I could be completly wrong and the reason why PGI dosn't make a profit is because all the money goes directly to MS Posted Image

To me the only way to make MWO profitable again is to appeal to a new playerbase, also the current one is very generouse I think and would invest into an MWO 2.0, it bears the question if the old playerbase alone is enough for createing MWO 2.0. Espacialy with MW5 and its planed DLC and maybe Clan addon takeing up a lot of money and time?

Still there is hope that the new fusion, whatever, with the new published made them enough money and with the new crytech team from that other company they can actually pull it off.

i dont think pgi are currently in a financially weak position. its not like it was in the famine times before mw5 was still in development. since then you have had:

the epic deal
mw5 release
console ports
dlc
mwo booster packs
eg7 deal

pgi has gone from a single revenue stream to multiple streams. on the business side of things they have done very well for themselves in the past couple years. because they have already mentioned mw6, one can assume they have a lot more plans for mechwarrior. pgi developing their own ip is probibly next. while this would eat up dev time that could go to more mw content, i think this would be a good source of income for them which may fund further mw games.

one also should consider the eg7 deal. a larger company is in a better situation to negotiate with ms, possibly even securing the ip for pgi. we see some of these business deals as questionable, however i like to think they know what they are doing from a buisness perspective. to put it simply: no bucks, no battlemechs.

X pulse lasers, light autocannons and plasma rifles would all be welcome additions to the game imo.

That said, I think most of the depth that we're missing in this game comes not from a lack of weapons, but a lack of equipment, and especially, armour.

Hardened armour, reflective armour, and reactive armor to start would be massive disruptors to the existing meta. Hardened armour could really unlock tanky builds in a way we haven't seen. Reflective and Reactive armour would force more diversified builds, since enemy mechs taking massively reduced damage from ballistic or energy weapons would create a constant risk for conventional laser and dakka boats.

Those three armour types would revolutionize the game.

True, coupled with a commander console that can give the team benefits over all or within a certain distance would be good as well.

Maybe they could add another feature that if two mechs with command consoles are within a certain distance they can benefit from each other or something.

But we defo need, more equipment and improvements to equipment as that will mostly force less min-maxing of one weapon type. Along with heat also getting some interesting effects at certain percentages as well would change up the meta.

I agree. Either it could lead to more people using diversifiet build or a rotating meta where lots of people field one specific armor, then people switch weapons that are strong against that armor type, then armor gets switched again and so on.

Anway that could be interesting but it would also require some form of information that is shown during gameplay to see what kind of armor the enemy has. Else you fire without knowing if you are effective or not.

I just posted a thread about how I would change Radar in the game along with giveing Command Consoles a place.

Heattable from the TT should be taken as inspiration to create a system for MWO. Something I don't know why it hasn't been done in the first place. Such an oporunits for a risk-reward system not taken.

I would love to have MWO/PGI prove me wrong.

I'm going to presume that the existing MWO game engine cannot be changed at all.
So no new game mechanic change (no faster lock for streaks, no combat pets, no change in 'gravity' of the map, etc.).

Propose new mechs:
----------------------------
IS: OmniMechs for IS side !!! IS OmniMechs can have its JumpJets user-removable as an option!
Clan: New Clan mechs, and perhaps existing OmniMechs relaxed to Set-of-7 to enjoy the mech set bonuses.

Propose new weapons:
-------------------------------
a) Missiles:
IS: MRM gets ATM functionality when target lock is achieved. MRM still behaves the same as before when dumb-fired (with no target lock).
Clan: Gets upgraded ATMX with critical hit bonus built-in. Bascially a LBX function for ATM. ATMX-3, ATMX-6, ATMX-9 (smaller because more damage when crit on enemy with no armor).

b ) Energy Weapons:
IS: Heavy Lasers, more heat efficient than Clan ones, and more point-point damage than Clan ones.
Clan: Critical PulseX Lasers (basically LBX function for Clan Pulse Lasers). PulseX Lasers are even heavier than Clan Pulse lasers. PulseX lasers does more damage on enemy with no armor.

c) Ballistics
IS: RACX autocanons. Basically LBX version of RAC. RACX-2 & RACX-4 with critical damage when enemy has no armor. Heavier than IS RAC counterparts.
Clan: RAC autocanons finally comes to Clan side. No RACX functionality for Clan side.

d) Equipment: (Can only equip one "ECM" module in each mech, as before).
IS: Angel ECM: Does both Disrupt & Counter Mode at the same time for IS side. IS Angel ECM is same Disrupt strength, and same Counter strength as previous ECM, but does both modes at once.
Clan: EECM: Doubles the strength of Clan ECM. So it takes half of existing enemy range to detect Clan mech with EECM.

the biggest things, passive sensors and no free c3. the former meant that more reliance on the mk1 eyeball than sensors. the latter gave light mechs a role other than to backshat assaults and gave a way to farm cbills early match. tag and narc also steer missiles rather than just buff targeting and can be used while running passive. there were also a few other things like a bigger aecm on some mechs that cast a protection bubble, and bap/bhp that actually did something.

Interesting. Except with the passive sensors it sounds pretty much like the idea I had.
I think MWO should take some inspiration from that.

What new weapons might they recommend; probably ones that only they are allowed to use then blame it on the rest of the community for everyone else not being able to use them properly Posted Image

I find the new balance passes good so far. Maybe the Cauldron is balanceing to their prefered likeing BUT at least they have a goal on how they want things to be instead of PGI kinda randomly boosting or nerfing stuff without a goal.
