This just popped up in my YouTube feed: https://youtu.be/UDxZNQnPCh4
He goes through the in-game settings he recommends and provides information about useful external tools, like Reshade.
My in-game settings were VERY different from his, so I'm trying his to see what I think. Reshade makes a BIG difference! I really like the degree of control it provides. In particular, I think it will help to make things visible in the dark areas of some of the maps.
There are probably older posts about this, but maybe this will help some of the newer players find this information. Hope it helps!

I understand this is a necro but is this program "Reshade" still legal to use for MWO?
It looks very cool but I don't want to break the rules.

When you make the lines clear, the enemy becomes clear. I think this is illegal.
but changes in brightness and colors are legal.
I used it for a while and then deleted it. because. !
Each map has a different light and brightness ratio.
A setting you set too bright degrades clarity on a snowy map.
A setting that you make dark spoils the night map.
I am not using now.
If there is a friend who wants to use it, I think he should make different settings for each map.

I think it is illegal to close the texture.

It isn't illegal. PGI has weighed in on it. As long as you are not altering the game in some way, you're generally going to be fine. In essence, the information that's being brought out by graphics card filters (nVidia, for example) or ReShade is already there; you're just making it more visible.
PGI has specifically announced that this program is allowed, so you should be fine using it.

I have a comment for this video, but can't post it on YT because of links:
The version control of ReShade is broken. Here is the solution:
You can't install these old mods via UI from cloud.
Install 4.9.1 version and "unselect all" mods.
Then go to https://github.com/c...ab8fa9265b8e575
And "download ZIP" (currently its prelast version of the legacy branch)
In the downloaded folder find and open folder "Shaders", it will be a source.
Also open those .../MechWarrior Online\Bin64\reshade-shaders\Shaders folder, it will be a destination.
Manually copy these mods (*.fx files) from the source to the destionation, only ones listed in this video.
Installation is done.
Now open MWO, pres 'HOME' btn to open and close the app, Presets file will be genreated in the .../MechWarrior Online\Bin64
Manually retype the settings to your ReShadePreset.ini , tho most settings are default.
P.s. this helped me to find the repo https://www.reddit.c...ading_an_older/
p.p.s maybe I've broke smth by installing the 5.*.* version first

Don't quite understand what you saying, but thank you for your very detailed sharing anyways!
Q: So is it possible to use both MrVaad's user.cfg and Shaders mod, are both compatible with each other??

Yes; MrVaad's stuff makes changes to the user configuration of MWO, while ReShade applies (or removes) post-processing filters to change how the game looks - like nVidia filters, but more granular. They should both work independently of one another.
(I'll have to go try to get ReShade to work again... had an issue with the current version not liking MWO when I tried it last year.)
