I hope this is some kind of mistake after the recent patch, and not a special strategy for promoting MWO in Russia from Innova.

Let me explain. When you try to access the MWO page from Russia, an inscription appears - this product is not available in your region.

I sure hope that is a bug and not PGI being PGI, but I smell something rotten.

That looks like a Steam thing.. I get that as well on some steam games that have been banned in Australia or no longer sell to Australia..

Maybe part of the Russian deal was solely through the Russian version. No longer through steam? Just guessing.

I would rather think that this is exactly the case.

If this blocks existing Russian players from accessing their accounts with all the stuff they bought/grinded it's pretty damn bad.

No, the game starts from the library. It's just that possible new players from Russia cannot see the MWO page in Steam.

Right, well that's not as bad then. Still pretty bad though.

That was going to be my question. They got the replacement up and running before Steam cut them off at the... where it cut them off at. Still... advertising.

Ah, 4game, one good company with pile of MMO corpses devoid of any blood in their basement.
But yeah, game works just fine from steam library.
And its page opens perfectly fine on Steam, though it may be because I own the product already.

Hi there, 'Lepestok'... I suggest you Contact MWO Support via the E-Mail Addresses @ https://mwomercs.com/support immediately and budge PGI to confess about what is happening to Steam-related access. What appears to be happening sounds way too intentional to me, and it can only hurt PGI in the end, being as they may have violated their agreement with Valve over how MWO is provided. It sounds like PGI made a big error in how they're trying to get more Russian players into the MWO environment now, and it will likely bite them in the future. :(

Don't get me wrong here... I seriously want a lot more players in MWO too, regardless of where they exist in Real Life at this time. But at the same time, it should not end up with some dark consequence that can equally kill MWO's future in return. :o

I've taken the liberty to start a Russian MWO forum thread discussion:
https://mwomercs.com...2/#entry6443075

(Since there should be more Russian MWO players affected over there)

As it turned out, now new players from Russia and CIS countries will not be able to see the game in Steam. They will be able to install MWO through the PGI or 4game launchers.

That is really bad as it means Russian players can no longer access the steam MWO forums easily.

So it is a big hint that PGI are either completely clueless or want to get rid of this game in two or three years. Because Innova exists solely to squeeze every last bit of money from players and let the project wither.
(and yeah, I've heard "it is not how it will be in our case" so many times already.)

This could be an executive decision taken on a market that they THINK they understand but have no direct experience with.

And with the other thread, I’m wondering what other countries are being dumped into the same bucket.
