I've added this to the original post but wanted to drop it here as well...

Greetings MechWarriors,

I just wanted to address some of the feedback and/or concerns we've received regarding this 8v8 weekend event:
  • Yes we're aware we should have provided some heads-up to this event coming, our apologies on that.
  • This was a PGI initiative for data purposes (see below) and not a Cauldron suggestion etc.
  • This is not permanent, it will end with the Patch on Tuesday at 10am Pacific Time.
  • While there has been discussion in the past regarding reverting Quick Play back to the original 8v8 we had at launch, this event is specifically for gathering data for an upcoming Event Mode Queue (more on that coming soon). That being said, if the discussion of permanently reverting back to 8v8 were to come up again, we're now gathering more recent data and feedback.
  • Yes, we understand that 4-person groups have a lot of influence in 12v12 matches and even more in 8v8, and that is being taken into consideration as well.
  • Some have expressed concerns that we launched this event while running two other events that have match score requirements. We will be adding 7 days to each of those events.
  • After this event I will post a new feedback thread on the forum, please participate!

Good move on the event times! And thanks for the update Daeron.

Right, because if anyone is not playing an assault they are obligated to stand around and wait for your 48kph 12 LPL back line sniper to get into position to sit all game?

Also, those same assaults will watch their entire team spot, flank and harass from the back lines despite having 20 tons of armor. Rather than expecting mediums and heavys to guard your oh-so precious paint job, move up and join the fight instead of mounting 180 LRMs and gripe about no locks which they somehow feel entitled to.

Nobody said anything about LRMs.

I’m not going to follow foolish players into an indefensible position or spend the whole match trying to keep up with someone who can’t think beyond pressing W. Keep pushing away from your slow teammates I’m sure it’s been helping you win a lot!

Most players who have Tier 1 just because they got there with time and not with their skills.

And I have been hearing this for years now and people will continue with it until the game dies.

I don't think it's a problem at all, because I know how to play Posted Image

Well, others seem to recognize it as a problem.
The Community Manager has just acknowledged the problem with 4-person groups.
I just want MWO to be better Posted Image

- 8 v 8 seemed to encourage team play/cohesion in general, almost every game I played both teams stuck very close together.
I've had far more people DC or just go AFK than ever before....

Played 3 games, had very good fun and good quick match.
I'm an old T5.
Maybe 8v8 is better for T5/T4, for people who are playing just for fun.

I would have to disagree with you on this one that 8v8 is good for T4/T5 players.
8v8 is more suited for T1/T2 player who are or want to be Comp player.
So PGI here is a suggestion:
If you want to "ADD" 8v8 because you should keep 12v12
1:make it that T1/T2 player can only que for 8v8
2: make premades limit to 2 players
3: keep 12v12 for T3-T5 players with the option to que for 8v8 if they wish to do so.
In my opinion the lower tier players would have more fun playing with less "salt" thrown at them from higher tier players who think they are gods. Because it you don't play the game or outfit your mech the way they(T1/T2) think you should then you are wrong.

I've tried about 10/12 games on every tier, LRM boats aren't commonplace in the slightest. If you're going to complain about weapon frequency, the only weapon i've started to notice has risen up dramatically in popularity is Gauss Rifles in t2 and t1. Seems every match has at least 2 gauss boats per team

So again, you haven't played it. All but two of the 30 odd matches I've done today have been assault only teams equipped soelly as LRM boats. One of those matches I really shouldn't count, because I was playing the sole non assault mech and it ended with more then half the players on both teams disconnecting. I've seen people vote for alpine peak 4 times, when normally one that's one of the rarest maps in the game *specifically* because people get tired of all the LRM spam it seems to inevitably result in. Any map with a significant chunk of areas where it's possible to be underr 200 meter from the enemy is straight up not even appearing in cues to be voted on.

But go ahead tell me all about your matches where conveniently what everyone actually playing the event is seeing isn't happening.

Indeed, as for the test, well, as I said before, I do not trust that until I see it.

Which Godzilla movies?

This time he decided to go with Godzilla 2000 and vs. Megaguirus. Both have the same version of Godzilla suit. He would do a lot more of the older classics, but licensing to show is a PIA to get.

Sounds like a lot of fun. I love community theater efforts like that. I've seen some great old movies at my local drive-in theater.

Fewer people per match is the last thing this game needed.

I agree. It seems we will be loading more than playing. Id like to see 20vs20. The majority of all the map areas aren't being used as is.

"You haven't played it" > Has played 30 rounds.

I played about 10/12 games (and rising at the time of writing the post) on EVERY tier with accounts i use to play with friends.
If you're getting LRM'd by assaults in an 8v8 and can't respond to that then that's simply a skill issue on your part or your team's. Nothing else needs adding.

Yes, I agree. I honestly have expected to have 100x100km maps in the game when it was announced, but, given the majority of player base, perhaps that was for the better.

Most of the teams I played with seemed to have understand that murderballing is the way to go.
This makes the matches feel rather repetitive: press "quick play", wait a few minutes until you are in the game, run towards the enemy as a group for some time, and then the match is decided within usually at most two minutes.
If your team is down 2 mechs, that basically means you have lost.

Also, the matchmaker needs to be fixed badly (but we all know it probably will not happen). There is way too much average tonnage difference between the teams.

Personally, I would love a permanent 8v8 game mode. But I also really love 12v12 but faction play all but demands you have a full 12 man team to even play. If there is gonna be a permanent 8v8, it needs to be solo queue with 12v12 is also around.

Maybe change the Faction play to a larger mission type senario instead of just a respawnable quick play. Also I get why players like light mechs..it's an under dog, but the balance makes them dangerous. Them and machine guns are over powered... or more like everything else is nerfed.
I do like this game. I'm a brawler most matches and even a very close front line with LRMs. I also end up dead because of many players hesitancy to be in the front Posted Image I've tried the sniper builds. It just doesn't do anything for me. Coming back after a couple months of just World of Tanks... This community is way less toxic. Maybe we are older players?Posted Image
