Is this intentional?
I understand this is to obtain data for future changes, but please fix the imbalance. This isn't fun. I'm going to play a handful more matches and see if this is just first impression bias, but I doubt it is.
Think I might be done playing for the weekend before it even starts.
EDIT TO ADD: After playing a few more games, the groups and imbalance ruin it. Done for the weekend. Really hope this doesn't become permanent or common.
The "social" and competitive crowds have been catered to ad nauseum. . . and where has it led us too? Either keep a space reasonably open for casual players or expect them to leave. Not all of us have the time, energy, or patience to make "in game" friends or keep up with the competitive folks. This whole episode really makes me doubt the future of this game.

I would like to see an option for 4V4 (but not limited to just lights and mediums) but don't think it should be the default. I get that people like 12V12 but a change up is refreshing.
Would it be possible to have some events based around match size or mech class? have one special weekend a month where it is all assaults or all lights, mess with the match size or something like that? leave 12V12 for the boring people if they don't want to have fun

I don't understand why you limit the conditions to managers, but I suggest you look at the actual experience reports of the entire forum and compare the number of people who see the 4-person group and 8v8 as a problem(for other problems like tonnage imbalance as well) with the number of people who praise it.

I'll give it one or two more matches, then the data you can gather from me is "did not want to play 8v8". I look forward to the results of the data being published.
One. It was one. Conquest in 8v8 with grossly imbalanced teams is absolutely not worth it. This is a free to play game, but I wouldn't play it as it stands if I was getting paid to.

But, yes, there is a problem with the tonnage balance for the whole team.
It is necessary to choose the right numbers, both for the permade and for the whole team along with this premade.
