Tonnage imbalance between sides is extreme now. Throwing away tonnage or taking full tonnage in a group drop have a game breaking impact on win/loss. 8vs8 is not bad, just the issues with 12vs12 are magnified now even more with 8vs8.

Loving this 8v8 mode. It is nice to have some player agency in games. It would be nice if we could have the option of 8v8, or perhaps a random queue as mentioned. Either way, looking forward to what PGI has cooking for this new "event queue"

Many benefits that I've seen so far:
  • Improved queue time (at least it seems this way, I've done no actual science on it)
  • More brawling, less sniping (possibly the sniping syndrome is a tad less pronounced)
  • Games times are quicker
A couple potential issues to fix (just agreeing with some of what has already been mentioned):
  • Match scoring seems even more broken now (ex. 600 dmg in a match, 1kill, 3kmdd and a negative match score in a loss - just doesn't seem right)
  • Pre-made groups have an even more significant influence on game experience (don't get me wrong, I like playing with my friends & family - not sure how to fix this...)

Nooooo I hate 8vs8, please don't do away with 12vs12. The bigger the battle the better.

He quoted a sentence that includes an example where the number of Assaults matched 5v1 at 8v8 testing match, but he doesn't mention to Assaults example it at all. It is too funny.

8x8 is terrible, please don't switch to this format, one of the nice things about MWO is you can have highly specialized mechs or generalists, with 8x8 specialized suffer too much and totally disbalances the weight divide, one team has no assaults', the other is almost all assaults', total disbalance. No good.

It is miserable that you are trying to make yourself look big by talking about yourself in the plural.

He is running away from the discussion by just ranting like this, but this clown insists that I am running away from the discussion.
And he admits the game is unbalanced, forgetting what he was running from.

So, I made a few matches. Sorry, as a casual player I'm waiting for 12v12 again. 8v8 just puts me off.

To be fair I think it isn't that bad of an idea. 8 vs 8 from time to time would be nice to have brief change of pace and ad some spiciness.

Glad for the experiment, although I know this was done way back when. However, there are too many factors working against 8v8, such as map design and size, tonnage restrictions, etc. I do appreciate the shorter queue times and slight change of gameplay for the time being, but I'll be happy to go back to 12v12

No need for permanent extremes. It does not have to be like "keep it 8 vs 8" or "make it 24 vs 24". Obviously everything is balanced towards the current 12 vs 12 setup (maps, armor, weapons)...

If it was votable on a round by round bases, I would:
8 vs 8 - has its perks, like end of the round cat and mouse chase - I would not vote for it most of the time though
12 vs 12 - good
16 vs 16 - intriguing - would be interesting to try out on bigger maps like polar, alpine, therma, tourmaline

P.S. on a different balance note: Unless you are running like a mindless heard, Skill Rating System does not like you. We demand more love for scouts, flankers, adventurers, cappers, sniper coverers !!

Allowing the 4 man groups in an 8v8 was the greatest idea since putting a spike protein in a vaccine. I am glad this issue can be resolved!

While many players dislike the current version of 8v8, I believe we should all play some matches this weekend so the data sample is big enough to draw some conclusions.

I've had a mix. Insta drops on most matches, but a few that went 3-5 minutes with nothing, then insta-drop the next match.

Pre-made groups vs pick-up groups is the biggest issue I've seen in this so far.

Was there some sort of problem with having one mode for pick-up groups only and a different mode for pre-made groups only? It seems like the simplest solution for balancing by co-ordination. Tonnage balancing also seems to be a simple fix with no flaws my 5 seconds of thinking about it can find. when a group of 24 (or 16) players is found, sort the mechs by roughly equal tonnage on each side.

I'm sure there are some issues that aren't on the surface that makes this harder, but it's unbalanced enough that it can often feel un-fun.

I'll be probably be backing away from the game for the remaining duration of this event.

Look, I understand you want to do this to help with the low playerbase so the matches start sooner.

If you do that you have to reinforce tonnage and no premades so the matches are actually winnable instead of death stomps - the past days have been insanely rough mmk?

If you want to expermient at least pretty please do not do it while running an event.

I'm not the one throwing up my arms and saying I'm not playing because 8v8. If it was really about not using the product, no need to announce your departure. Certainly seems its more like clout seeking.

I'm also not the one saying "I want to group up with my friends and be able to club seals". If you don't see the entitlement in that then you'll never get it.
