I waited about 5 minutes (I tend to be a team player and talk it out, but not a soul would budge) before I started attempting the sneaky sneak over to their side. in a Supernova. Yeah, no ECM. I did not too bad I managed to get around behind them without them noticing...
I went down in a blaze of glory! I took one down with me and severely maimed two others! It also got the game rolling at least. Both sides started to move around once I did that, so others got to play the game instead of just sitting there for 15 minutes watching Netflix on a side screen.
The team I was on still lost, but hey it was more entertaining to watch everyone milling about blasting each other than sit in their little snow forts.

Fixed that for you. If I see another er large laser boat direwhale/atlas with ECM standing 4 grids behind the team while everyone gets blazed ... 100 tons of armor just going to waste.
It seems the way PGI makes money are mechs with ECM so they keep releasing them. It was once perk for light/medium mechs but now you too can stand and do nothing with your Atlas. ECM leads to this potato mentality - people can stand back impervious to an entire ammo type and just poop gauss and laser vomit. When ECM was limited to smaller mechs they needed heavy armor / gun support now that means nothing. The meta is ECM sniping with the heaviest mech you can take.

When they're on my team they rarely make it clear what they're doing until they start yelling over comms about how stupid we are for taking engagements (or being pushed and engaged) out of their line of fire, and all requests for them to reposition (in order to put their blue lasers on red guys) results in them just telling us to "Get good noob".
When they're on the other team (on a map where blue lasers are broken) 60% of the time a large portion of the team lets themselves get caught out even after calling out the 4x 100 tonner blue laser boats and it's gg before the rest of the team engages. 39% of the time the non snipers on the enemy team take engagements out of the line of fire of their 4x 100 tonner blue laser boats and it's gg because we have more armour. 1% of the time it's a pure stalemate like in the OPs game; I usually get bored and look for an opening or flank to no avail.
I'm getting nostalgic for LRM spam at this point.

Okay, first of all, there's more to the missile category than LRMs, and secondly, if you're playing the good LRMs, you effectively have 1km-range MRMs if you need them. And thirdly, there's ways to turn ECM off, and if you do a lot of those potatoes will just get melted because they're using ECM as a crutch.
Too many people act like like slamming as many clan LRM tubes as possible onto a machine, with maybe a TAG for flavour, is the entirety of what you can do with a missile boat.

Like I said, if you're playing the good LRMs...
Snapshotting potato snipers with dumbfired sphere LRMs before they can get their gauss wound up just doesn't get old.

Love doing exactly this! I can't lock on? treat it like SRMs and aim without it! Too bad they get a moderate amount of time to dodge the volley.

just don't tell anyone about that one Warhammer
Quirks on the Catapult C1 ain't bad either, though not as ridiculous as that +40%. In particular the combination of boosted sensors, boosted velocity, and boosted range gives you more reach than people expect LRMs to have.

First they stalled it for around 5 minutes - then it was over in 30 seconds - 30 seconds from 0:0 to 12:1 or so.
There is nothing entertaining about such a match to watch!
