A kind modder has fixed the sound issues so here it is. Sound mods are legal so no issues with using it.

For Steam, just Extract to: (It’s a 7-Zip file)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MechWarrior Online\Game

Note: Need to terminate MWO game client and restart it again.

Fellow Mechwarriors,

I have looked at the "nexusmods" website.
They force you to register with their site to download the mod files and contrary to what they claim they penalize you if you attempt to protect your personally identifiable information. They "justify" it with a big long account of all the various costs they say they have to pay. They are U.K. based and appear to ignore the GDPR let alone U.S. privacy laws and those of like countries. People do not deserve to have their personal private information monetized without their consent.
This is consent that I will not give. Understand I do not have a problem with sites that are up front about selling a product for a stated price paid for with legal tender.

That said, In my personal opinion:

• Trying to force people to give anyone consent to compromise their personal identity for any reason whatsoever is wrong.
  
• Trying to justify compromising people's personally identifiable information for monetary gain is wrong and totally unconscionable.
  
• Forcing people to give up their personally identifiable information in my opinion is wrong, immoral and theft.
  
• All such sites should be avoided no matter how attractive the items they offer.
  
• People that are installing these mods essentially seem to have an unfair advantage in game play over those who either will not or can not do so.
  
• The web site that is being used to distribute them appears to be profiting off of them in ways that are not legal in countries that have instituted legal protections for the PII of internet users.

Personally identifiable information is off limits.

The MWO community should not have to pay any outside source in any way, shape, or form to be able to play the game without facing unfair advantages by those who do so.

*** PGI please fix these bugs in MWO as soon as possible and ban mods from outside sources ***

Umm, you don't have to give any information you don't want to give? Do like most people do and make an email account just for sites like this and if they ask for personal info then give them fake info? I mean this is like standard internet security protocol for decades at this point?

You clearly don't understand how data mining is done, From what I can see from the list of scripts that I blocked on their site by the time you have downloaded your privacy has been trashed. What you use for an "ID" is totally meaningless.

Who isn't using a security browser at this point? I mean I get your point but you seem to think everyone else is a moron and can't take simple precautions to protect their info? Been using nexus mods for years and even on the fake email accounts there isn't suddenly ad spam or other crap you get when they sell your info.

Is there an alternative source? Like reddit or something...
Also I checked my game files (i have the steam version) and in the "game" directory of MWO theres not a single file with "zz", unlike shown in the instruction?
I must add its a very fresh install since my old HDD died last week.

It takes like a minute to register. All you do is enter your email and they send you a code which brings you to a screen to enter your username and password. Thats it. They don't ask for any personal information. If you don't want to use your main email then you can make a quick and easy protonmail account and use that instead.

As to the 'zz' on the file its so that you can easily find it to remove it when pgi finally pushes out a hotfix.

Also nexus mods is one of the oldest and most respected modding community.
The site and the guys maintaining the site are great and have been doing this for 21 years ! (mod upload was added in 2007).

There is 30.7 millions registered users

It's probably one of the safest place to get mods. Uploads are verified before being made available.

Downloaded, unzipped file into correct folder... and it works!

Now, time to explore those MW5 mods....
