I understand that the skill tree needed to be made compatible for the non-committed, instant gratification leashed ADHD casual players, but golly... All us veterans and long term players got bent over and told to hold our boots. 30+ hours of re-clicking skill nodes, this could have been automated better.

you don't have to do it all at once....i mean it takes about a minute or two before you go into match.

And there’s nothing wrong with just playing your already skilled-out mech as is. Perhaps you’re missing a tiny bit of optimization, but it’s perfectly usable. Skill it later, when you have time.

i think ive already re-skilled like 80 mechs already. mostly mechs i thought would work out in the event queue. the extra gsp i got for all 417 mechs was nice. but it seems like i only needed to dip into it a few times. most of the mechs ive had to reskill had surplus xp. this means i will have a lot of surplus gsp when this is all over.

the place where it really hurts is the cbills. my balance has droped below half a billion for the first time since the last skill tree redux. i think ive blown over 50 million re-skilling mechs. i estimate the rest will cost about 200 million. sometimes i suspect this was meant to sink all the surplus cbills that players stacked after the last skill redux.

you don't have to do anything. as long as you don't klick on SKILL TREE all your nodes remain assigned like they were before patch. only once you click on skill tree orphaned notes get refunded.
they explained that before releasing the patch.

yes, dont do anything. the more sub-optimal builds in the game, the better my scores.

I have 900+ mechs over various accounts. Main thing is, I probably play 50 or so with any regularity so the skill point change is of little issue.

What I have found is that I probably now only use three or four variants under the new skill tree to get better performance out of my favourite mechs and with the significantly reduced xp and CBill requirements, its no great hardship to change them and pick up any skill gaps.

Not happy with having to rebuild skills, but not that annoyed; its the usual PGI approach that I've got used to from playing since Beta.

it doesn't take 5 minutes for each mech... most of your mechs can use just few bit different skilltrees that you save and then just load on next mech without updated skilltree... after that ooh 10 seconds of each mech to skill up.

thanks to the OP, I finally came down to install the latest patch and have a look at it for myself.

5minutes;
-4 of them to check out what the hell is going on in one of my hellbringers, then testing grounds.
-1 minute to reskill and try a MarIIC and a Wolfhound.

judging by that, reskilling isn't an issue, imo. ymmv ;)

Pretty sure the op isn't playing those hundreds of mechs on any regular basis. As you gain an interest in playing them you can skill them up and eventually over time the mechs you use will get optimized and the mechs that gather dust will sit with their old skill build. I have hundreds of tanks in wot and after the huge equipment changes I found I only ever played a handful of them so the majority are still sitting to this day gathering dust.

This. I’ve got 200 mechs myself… I’ve skilled up maybe 12 of them so far… the ones I use all the time. If I skill up 1-2 each time I log in, that isn’t much of a burden and I can certainly use them as-is.

Wow, that's a lot of mechs! I think I would have trouble picking which one to play if I had so many! Hell, I know I'd forget which mech had which kinds of weapons unless I set up a nickname for it so I could tell at a glance.

I'd say just worry about applying skill points when you choose the mech to play. Select the meck, then double check the skills. Should only take a few seconds to see whether you skilled it already or not. Then maybe a minute or so to tweak it due to the changes. That's what I did for the dozen or so I have and so it doesn't feel like I'm wasting a whole evening of happy game time trying to do all the skills.

When re-adjusting previously unskilled mechs, I’m finding that I don’t necessarily have to go the full 91 nodes in order to get the most out of the mech, I usually have 5-8 nodes leftover that if used, don’t really do anything.

Good hunting,

I have only re-skilled the mechs that I BOTH currently use and feel would notably benefit from a re-skill. If I'm not using it, it gets left alone, and if I'm fine with it as it is, it gets left alone.

Overall I think the recent changes are a very good thing and I'm happy to see them implemented.
