Hotfix Date and Time - May 31st 2022 @ 10AM – 10:30AM PDT
Version Number: 1.4.260.0
Size: 8 MB
Please note that due to compression differences the Steam patch size may be larger than the standalone client patch size.

We are implementing a hotfix today that includes the following changes:

GENERAL
  • Fixed an issue where the Map/Mode multiplier was not working
  • Fixed an issue where users could not redeem Steam DLC purchases
  • Fixed an audio issue where Command Wheel dialogue did not play
  • Fixed an audio issue where Bitching Betty did not play
  • Fixed the Invalid Skill Tree error
  • Fixed an issue where Laser AMS was broken text in the Weapons Panel

EVENT QUEUE
  • Fixed an issue where the C-Bill multiplier at End of Match screen displays base total before multiplier rather than the bonus earned
  • Fixed an issue where Faction Play group drop decks were overlapping with the Event Queue
  • Fixed an issue where Event Queue was affected by Faction Play Loyalty selections

For those of us who installed the Bitching Betty fix put out thru NexusMods, will we need to delete that .pak file? Anything else? Any conflict possible there?

Hi,

have you also resolved the Voting Bonus System?

Else there is no way to get Alpine or Caustic Valley maps VS OTHERS !!!!

Think about that, you kill your own maps, you nearly optimized = Kill your own work without Voting-Bonus !!!

Yes, just delete the pak file from the nexus mod fix.

There's been a lot of issues this past weekend with the Matchmaker, Cadets dropping in Tier 1 matches, tier 5 and 4 dropping with Tier 1 groups, teams dropping with 4-6 Assaults vs 0-1 on the other team, etc.

Was that fixed in this hotfix as well?

That's just classic matchmaker and low-population MWO. That's not related to the recent patch, and it's going to take a lot more than a hotfix to resolve it.

Yes, some sound mods will need to be updated (one folder to change and regenerate the sound banks)

Your No. 1 priority for increasing the gameplay, retention and new accounts is to equalize matchmaking. If you cannot replace the current algorithm with something that works for more than 10% of the time, then you should start working on an equalization modifier to all players in a match. This would adjust each players damage, armor and heat impacts based on the target. Tier 1 shooting a Tier 5? 50% negative quirk to damage, 50% plus to heat. Tier 5 shooting a Tier 1? 50% plus modifier to damage, 50% neg adjustment to heat. Or something like that.

You don't like that? Then get MM to at least try to work most of the time. The percentage of unbalanced matches since the patch has increased substantially to the point where nearly every one I played is stacked in one way or another. The 2 most obvious is Tier 1 4-man groups massacring cadets and low tier players. The next most obvious is weight distribution - how can 6 assaults in a match end up in a 1 v 5 scenario? How can 8 lights end up with 7 on one team? MM failure is the answer.

So many Tier 1's have told us low tier players (T4 personally) to just get better at the game. Seriously? Hard to do when you are focused fire killed in 2 minutes. Or in matches that last 4 minutes bc your inexperienced team was seal clubbed. Or another Tier 1 flip remark is to just quit the game. Not sure that makes for MWO longevity.

Anyway, while I like to see development progress, none of the recent work will matter if MM remains so heavily broken.

Glad to hear it, because I would really look forward to better Tonnage balancing when a Match is being put together. Fair fights are far more fun! :D

By the way, could we PLEASE have an officially-posted HotFix Patch Download Link for those who need and/or want the use of that Manual method? Some of us find this method to be a lot more stable and better for making sure our MWO Installs never get corrupted! :o

(p.s.: If you have to use 'PCHunter's thought about an In-Match Equalizer however, then it might be better to limit those extremes to only about 25% difference, or it may end up pushing out players anyway over difficulty differences. Their thought about 50% differences would definitely cause an unnecessary backlash.)

This is because currently Quick Play and Event Queue matchmakers are one in the same. We're doing the work right now to separate them so they both have individual MM settings. Whenever Event Queue is inactive, Quick Play MM is back to normal.

No offense, but no way. Suddenly after the patch I was seeing 90% players I never have before, and I could tell by the chatter and the merciless gameplay they were much higher tier players. This is a real issue, not just the same old "matchmaker could be better..."
