Triple RAC2
Double RAC5
2 UAC5 and 2 UAC10
8 LB/AC2 Direwolf

It's boring and annoying. I can't hear anything over the sound. I can't see anything over this ****.

But can't have firing a 7 Medium Lasers!

God I hate this game.

Rant over and see you on the battlefield.

1) You can try fiddling with each audio/sound settings to see if it suits you:
[Settings]>>[Audio]>>[Effects_Volume] and turn this down; it might suit you well!
(I personally turn down the Effects_Volume to 50%)

OR:
2) You can try downloading a MWO sound MOD that suits you, which apparently is legal.

Better still, do your own sound MOD, leaving out weapons sounds, but still have Bitching Betty (and perhaps still keep artillery bombardment sounds too).

3. Just find out what weapons and what mechs (Light? Heavy? Assault? Medium?) you like to pilot.
Then MWO becomes a very interesting game! Posted Image

For me, I love the different sound effects the various AC's produce. Really handy to listen to and be aware of when someone is right behind/next to you, stuck in Zoooooom land and oblivious to any of their drop mates. Although you can't duck and cover, you know to get out of the way or risk losing your rear torsos.

I think the only odd one is the IS lbx10, sounds a bit tinny really.

Anyway w0gj has kindly explained how to mute them, so no real issue :)

You can also use MrVaads mwo config tweaker to remove or reduce cockpit explosion spam so it doesn't blind you and bog down your system.

one trick i find to reduce the particle blinding effect is to walk towards the mech shooting you. this will place the explosion bitmaps behind the viewpoint in the cockpit. if you are retreating in reverse, you will see only explosions. also you do not need to walk directly to the target, that is also bad because it makes it easier for them to aim. look for cover in front and to the side and head there, dont forget to pump an alpha or two into them on the way (do not shut down, that is bad).

Ssshhhh don't tell anyone, but the Javelin 11A can fire 7 MLs without ghost heat, can do so several times before needing to cool down, can bring those 7 lasers at 124 Kph with a jump distance of 98 meters and has decent hitboxes to boot.

Love the little guy. Such a fun mech.

What are you firing 7 Mediums on where the ghost heat is a significant problem? Honestly, just about anything with the tonnage and hard points to run 7 ML, the ghost heat isn't that problematic. I mean, yeah I get the ghost heat complaint overall, but not in the context of hating on ACs. Compare the tonnage requirements to run 7 ML and necessary heat sinks to offset the GH vs, say 2 UAC 10s.

Phoenix Hawk 7S can do 7 ML too, with MASC and high flying jump jets. Just fun. =)

What's funny is I was tooling around with my triple AC2 BLR-1D a bit and doing well with it. From open beta days to today the only major change to it has been upgrading the armor to LFF. (Ok, that and my initial build for the mech was an energy boat, but I decided that was pointless, might as well take advantage of the triple ballistic arm.)

Are you the type that loves Boating LRms And sitting in the far corner of the map
If not then I salute you. But autocanons are not boring at all. That's all
Ballistic types in the game except for Gauss.
If the reason you hate it is just because of how loud they are then I'm sure you've already learned by other comments that you can change the sound volume. Or easily install a sound mod that changes the weapons sound effects. Haven Kendrick Sound Mod is amazing The zaku Sound Mod is amazing etc.
Ballistics are the best especially when mixed with mrns lasers etc
Duall lb10X Acs with large or medium pulse lasers is insanely fun.
Hell just A Dual AC 2 stock black jack is fun as hell. Ultra Auto cannons are fun as long as your heat is manageable. Rotary Auto cannons I don't care for and I actually don't like the sound of rotaries at all. But
Again you can go on YouTube and it'll show you in 30 seconds how to put a sound mod on mwo that you want. You can see most sound mods on YouTube and then go to Google and look for it to download.
After you download your mod file you simply Drag it over and place it
Into the correct MWO folder (it will show you the one folder you need t o look
For in the "How to video you find "
I just can't remember exactly which one atm.
But ACs are way way better than LRMs and Light Mech pilots.
All day long

Is there any way to reduce the muzzle flash of your own ACs? Its hard to see something if i fire them on the Bolt... and another question: Why is it a good idea to put random jam on UACs? I know because of the lore but come on, this is a shooter! You have cooldown, range, heat, ammo to made it different from AC. Running in front of a Fafnir with 4 jamming guns is no fun at all.

Jamming is still a decent balancing mechanic because otherwise you are paying a pittance in tonnage and crits to double your DPS.

As for muzzle flash, have you tried thermal (H) or nightvision (N)? Alternate vision modes are often useful for cutting out some of the visual clutter. Failing that? Just aim for the center of the red square around your targeted enemy.

In regards to muzzle flash from your own weapons - it can definitely can be a problem on mechs with high mounted RACS like the Bolt. Firing your own weapons can almost blind you, and having to go to thermal vision is really a crappy option to be honest.

I'm sure I've seen screen shots of an option in player settings to simply turn off muzzle flash, but it doesn't seem to be an option for me; if this was in an earlier version of the software I'd would definitely like to see it back again.

There's never been a muzzle flash toggle. However, if you turn your graphics settings down low enough, you might be able to minimize it.
