I've noticed and some YouTube videos have pointed out some times hits are not registering any damage to the opponents. Even when its clear that we are hitting the target's. TYVM for your time.

Regardless. this has been a thing for YEARS.

At various times of day PPC's will not register, at others missiles are hit'n'miss, then it is the turn of gauss.

Nothing new, just a case of the game not registering damage; whether it is client or server side I have no idea but as I said it is nothing new.

Seems to happen a lot, especially with LPPCs or against a high ping enemy

I saw one today, very clear, I was spectating, and saw someone do two alphas into a left torso/arm from about 50 yards... nothing.

I am aware that it takes time to register, waited several seconds, and nothing, then they did another alpha, and I watched, still nothing.

I've had it happen to me too.

Its rare that I notice it but when I do its usually in a thick firefight with lots of pew flying around usually on when I'm on another regions servers. Combine players who might be half a world away with bad isp conditions and something is going to get dropped.

Like many online shooters, MWO has hitreg issues from time to time. The only weapons that seem to be immune to this (in my observation) are lock-on missiles (Streaks, LRMs, ATMs). Note that these weapon types are really good at producing large damage numbers, but are not good at actually killing mechs (they tend to spread damage out a lot).

I'm finding that its just more than "time to time". and that certain mechs benefit from poor hit reg against them more than others.

Lets see some videos, if its super frequent.

90% of the time once the shadowplay gets busted out and we go frame by frame we get a different story.

This game generally has pretty good hitreg, its a server side game.

One thing everyone should know is that the hit indicator on the crosshair is a client side effect. You get that whether you caused damage or not.

Hit Reg has always been an issue in MWO. Discussed to death for ten years. Search the forums. It's the paper doll you pay attention to, not the cross hairs.

Its really only a big issue for pin point or high alpha builds. Its annoying, but has not been to the point that it caused me to lose/win a match.

You can fix it by getting better internet. Packet loss and ping spikes are a thing with internet games.

Yeah. There's pretty much nothing you can do if your computer simply can't get the message trough to the server that you are trying to shoot. Cripples your ability to play just about any online game at a high end level.

I was certain they made the reticle server-side very early on. However, because it flashes, it can indicate any amount of damage from 0.1 to 100. If you fire 100 missiles, it would blink if it only registers one hit. Weapon impacts or explosions are supposed to be server side too. Weapon projectiles--I don't recall. I think they are client-side visually but will not fire unless the server approves the launch so it should line up except maybe if it crosses the path of an enemy mech that is warping around.

It's server side. You won't get it unless the sever has reported back to the client it's reg'd a hit. That's why it's delayed with high ping, it'll take 600ms to get to the server and get back to report to the client.
