So basicly with IS Omnis all that is stopping that from happening is the XL engine topic?
With Celestials, well I can understand that we would indeed need to move the timeline, still would love to see the chassis, even with current tech.

Anyway the IS Omni topic is a much more intersting one. I think I will make a new thread for that to not mix it up with the Celestial topic.

No, in general its an equipment issue.

As a worst case, imagine if the Clan Executioner had locked IS components.

Some of them have locked singles, IS ferro, etc. Most of them would require heavy quirkage and probably still be buckets of suck and complaints.

And this is why I am not so found of a complete limitless building for mechs. I know I am most likely the only one or one of the very few that think that a complete free building mechlab is actualy counterproductive.

For one it turns mechs to basicly "skins". Only exception may be hardpoint placement and torso sizes.
It removes a lot of mechs from playability and any kind of thinking out of the box or creativity.

Sure even with stock mechs there will be a meta, there will allways be one. Still as it stands now omnitech, the one that should be better, is in fact worse. It also completly takes IS Omnis off the table.

Equipment issue in general.

I still wish that Clan Omnimechs lets user unequip JJ as an optional choice!

Frankly to bring Omnimechs back to where they should be, they should have all the standart modification options from Battlemechs + the omnipods for changeing hardpoints. Else they are more limited then basic mechs what is the oposite of what Omnimechs where supposed to be.

The other brutal option would be that you have a timer for modifing your mechs where standart Mechs take out your mech for a day or two, depending how much you change while Omnis can be changed on the fly.
But guess what cryout that would generate. On the other hand even I as a casual would most likely just smile and pic one of my other hundret mechs and wait the day.

Why does that even make sense for this game?

Customization is a core component of both the video game series and tabletop game.

This game easily has the best mechlab in the series.

If you think customization breaks balance you should watch the Stock world tournaments for this game. Same mechs on every team, just about every time. Vanilla battletech is super unbalanced on purpose.

Of course it would apply to IS mechs also. And, once you fill up your repair bay, let's say 4, you're done for the day.
