I've always enjoyed the lighter, faster mechs myself.

Obviously, it depends on a lot of different situations, including what my lancemates are piloting, but if this game works how I'm hoping it will work, I can't wait to pilot the Swayback ^_^ (Hunchback HBK-4P)

That said, I'd also like a Jenner, Panther, Centurion, Clint, Vindicator, Sentinel...Etc. Fun light and mediums unless the situation demands heavier.

i go for mediums and heavies.

call me nostalgic, but since the days i read the grey death trilogy i simply can`t get the shadowhawk or marauder out of my mind. not to forget the evergreen warhammer or "yen-lo-wang" (some of you might remember that name) aka centurion :P

since almost all of them are "unseen" mechs and only the IIC clan versions are back in battletech i doubt i gonna see them anytime soon though ;)

I prefer heavies and lighter assaults, but I'll pilot anything really. Voted heavies.

Heavies are my fav. Thunderbolt, Grasshopper, Black Knight. If the Banshee-S makes an appearance I'll upgrade to an assault.

I will be rocking in a medium. Hell, my favorit mech is a medium, the Uziel, slap on 2 PPCs, a Mini Gauss, 4 heat sinks and be a leathal Medium support sniper. I had so many killes in that little underdog of a mech its astounding. One of the most lopsided matches I was ever in involed Uziel's. But not just me or one or two other guy's, but rather our entire team with 2 PPC's and Mini Gauss fitted Uziels against an entire team of Heavies and Assaults. Amazingly, not only did we kill them all and wone the match, we killed them all and wone the match with out a single lose ;) . And this was with playing with BP Vettie, Cerberus and other skilled guys like that in the server.

But sadly the Uziel will not come out for another 20+ years. :P

It's funny, I would love to pilot a 60-70 ton mech with enough speed to be considered powerful, but very mobile. Unfortunately, the only IS mechs that fit the bill are either lopsided and ugly, or underpowered in previous games. Dragon? Underpowered. Catapult? Fat, wannabe version of the Twolf in MW4 was a turnoff. (although MWO's new rendition looks pretty promising!) Rifleman? Slow, and unseen. Archer? Cool looking, but too commonly spammed as a no armed LRM spammer, and unseen. Warhammer? Iconic, but very slow and unseen. For the clan or future IS: Avatar? ugly. Cauldron-Born? Fugly. Linebacker? Way too big a hitbox. And ugly. Argus? REALLY ugly. Although they are all great mechs in their own respect, nothing seems to fit, and 65 tons is the perfect size for what I seek! Perhaps my hopes lie with a mech not included in previous games?

What is a Urbies? Is that a Urbanmech? Also are the mechs going to be played going to have the idiosyncrasies that are described in the different tech manuals? For example the Scorpion is described as being able to turn faster and shoot farther (do to its being able to raise and lower it's torso) than other mechs using the same weapons [I think I have stated that correctly] and I am wondering if that will be reflected in the game. There are other mechs that have their own unique pluses and minuses too. Is it possible to do that?
Thank you in advance for answering my questions.

Love the Warhammer. Do I dare play a House Liao "Hot Hammer" though?

I would KILL to see a well designed Highlander. They are supposed to be one of the older 'Mech designs after all, and I am a huge Northwind Highlanders and Royal Black Watch fan. Ninety (90) tons is plenty heavy and they have a well balanced arsenal.

Heavies and Assaults. Atlas is always fun and I just hope the King Crab will make an appearance. Heavies are nice too, but I just love the power and the durability of the assaults even if they are slow as hell.

Heavy. Because Marauder =D
And if i cant have Marauder, i'll have to go with a medium 'mech, something like Shadow Hawk... Oh wait that's an Unseen too. Then, Phoenix Hawk? Wait... Damn.

And the only real option for me is Blackjack =(
EDIT: Or Highlander.

And to answer the question- light or medium. Unfortunately it appears that Hatchman and Axman will not be in the game due to the no melee statement in FAQ. Though I suspect like everyone else I will try all the different classes just for sh___s and giggles, if for no other reason.

Assault (sometimes Heavy).

They seem to have the best mix of speed, armament and armor for me.

Hellbringer? :P

65 tons, fast, looks like a Warhammer + Summoner combined...

Definitely, I will be piloting the Light class of 'mech whenever possible, since that is the class I grew up learning to pilot and now can even hold my own against even the 100 ton monsters (thank god some people are still stupid enough to underestimate the ability of scout 'mechs!).
But if the Crab will be an option, I would pick that 'mech any time.

Light Urbies, medium Urbies, heavy Urbies and assault Urbies. And if I have to find me a drill and some screws, to mount them together to get them into the other weight classes, so be it. :P

One word: Clans. And we have only IS mechs.
