I know that I currently want to select either a light or a medium - I don't want to draw much fire in this game. Likewise, I'm not a very good shot, so assuming that the game were using a points/tonnage system, better to let people who are better shots use up points and leave myself in a supporting role.

Currently want to stick somewhere between lights and mediums. Anything above 55 tons would be too much, and I'm more looking to stick to the 30-45 ton area.

If I can get better, I would consider moving up in the weight classes. The Thug and Stalker hold a special place in my heart.

I'd prefer A TB-9k if the implement the C3 slave units which I hope they do, would make actually having the ecm useful, and would make it more viable to do a commander role. But if they don't then it would either be the TB-7K or a classic Exterminator at least till clan mechs come out

I'd tie it mostly to required role I'd have to/like to fill. Thus from what I currently assume I'll most likely be in a medium or eventually faster heavy Mech most of the time. Will also depend on the overall balancing of PGI, of course.

I would prefer to pilot a medium for most situations and have a heavy in my back pocket for when it's really needed.

For me, Medium is the best choice. One of the classic (Phoenix Hawk, Wolverine) or 50-tonner like Hunchie or Centurion AH (with AC/20). Sometime missile support, say Trebuchet.

I think, Heavies of that time frame not much better in terms of armor and weapon, but significantly slower.

My preferred 'Mechs:
Light: Locust, Raven
Medium: Phoenix Hawk, Uziel
Heavy: Dragon, Marauder
Assault: None really

I definitely prefer the light and medium classes. I have the Dragon listed because it's one of the fastest heavy 'Mechs. I like the Marauder just because it's such an iconic 'Mech. I will likely spend the vast majority of my time in the lighter classes though.

Lights: Jenner, Raven, Locust, Panther.
Medium: Phoenix Hawk, Centurion, Hunchback, or Shadow Hawk.
Heavy: Rifleman, Thunderbolt, Warhammer, Marauder.
Assault: Highlander, Annihilator, Atlas, Marauder II

I just choose every category. At first i wanted to say medium but then i thought about the Catapult and this awsome looking Dragon. And if they convince me with another great mech in teh light and assault classs i cant decide yet.

All depends on the situation and what mech is needed where, I'm happy to pilot whatever, but the Thug will probably be the end goal

Of the 3049 mechs listed in the thread below I think these are my preferred:
Panther, Griffin, Crusader, Black Knight, Mauler, Highlander and of course the Atlas!


I guess medium/low heavy would suit my style.

I just compiled everything that was around in 3049, there probably won't be any Clan options from the start if there ever are any.
