This is the way.

I do the same with brawl Crusaders, and with SRM MadDogs, and with brawl Orions, and with sniper MarauderIICs with their ludicrous any range pinpoint, and with 4 AC5 Yagers, or basically any mech that excels with one particular role. Used to do the same with 3Peep Veagles, Boom Yagers when they were a thing, or with Splatapaults when they could one shot you with splash damage to the head, or even LagRavens back in the day. See a dangerous build, call it out, so you can make it less dangerous.

Any mech that excels at one thing is dangerous if you let it excel at that one thing. I was ranted at the other day by a dude who was annoyed his extreme long range high heat build was dismantled in short order by my ludicrously short range dps brawl machine. No-one shot at me on the way there, despite my derp chime going nuts as I sauntered over, and he was 2 grids from any support.

But, for anyone frustrated by Crusaders, seriously, go for the legs. Seriously, a leg on the Crusader is 3CTs wide lol. I can't wait until they drop for cbills. I won't be skipping Crusader legging-day, and judging from my own impotent rage at the number of times i've been legged in the Crudader, the salt will be glorious.

Also, the arms are a great target. So much firepower, so easy to prune.

The majority of Crusader variants (minus that energy boat and the Hero 'Mech) is not too different from Archer, i.e. a 'Mech that has been a part of the game for years and that is only five tons heavier.

Yeah, no lie I was hoping for some unique quirks to set it apart from other mechs in the tonnage range. If the 3R had reduced minimum range on LRM's for example, it would match the lore as a brawler with lurms.

Honestly, I was kinda disappointed when I checked those quirks. I expected something ... more interesting.

Of course, having some quirks is better than having no quirks at all. Posted Image

I realize they did it to avoid the impression that spending money was pay to win. But each one except the 6T and the Crael sure are under-quirked. (Massed hard points are their own quirks. Posted Image )

MWO has (an unfortunate) habit of doing nothing against hardpoint inflation...

~Piranha PIR-1 / PIR-2 / PIR-CI (circa 2018): hardpoints increased to the (now known) maximum 16 possible
~Viper VPR-F (2021 Annual Rewards): acted like a Medium mech version of PIR-1, with JJ
~Crusader CRD-6T / CRD-CR (circa 2022): IS faction hardpoint inflation on a Heavy mech.
(CRD-CR actually has 17 hardpoints, but can only equip 16 of these. So maxing it out + AMS throws an error!)

Anyone can give the timeline for introduction of MLX-G (part of MLX reinforcements??)

Is there any way to purchase the crusader without spending 70 dollars?
It will eventually be available for MC, then for C-Bills a month later. Check the package FAQ for exact dates.
