I played this for a while and it was pretty decent since the jj give you many more positioning options.

osr-3d

However I'm not to partial too lights with no ecm so I shelved it.

But its not bad at all if you have an ecm buddy or stick to the murderball since you will have a 400m+ optimal for both the lasers and lmg.

If it had ecm its be like the pirates banes big brother.

As to the lanners this is also pretty decent as a skirmisher

The pirate banes dad.

RULE OF ENGAGEMENT:

The WORST Mech is a Mech with too many weapons but BLIND!

If you are blind u can not even bring an ATOM-BOMB in where YOU need it, let alone your teammates!

LET ALONE OVERHEAT AND LOOKING HOW YOU GET A HEADSHOOT BY A LIGHT!

But from my observation any Mech with less than 2 Laser-Slots is bad!

I disagree. "Frenzy" is a pretty solid 'Mech.

It's hard to find a mech worse than the 5v. 12 mpl alpha max. Even a lct will laugh that off.

The fix for those mechs with the only hardpoints stuck in the ct is to move one to a torso. Pretty sure that moving it in the mechlab and hitbox is independent of the graphical hardpoint that is displayed. So no real need for a graphical edit of the model since torso mounts are typically right next to the ct mounts anyways so it won't really impact the visuals like moving it to an arm. Then you could wedge in a couple of heavy weapons.

Your metric immediately fails then on the Summoner, since there's no other heavy that can poptart 3 CERPPC like the Summoner can (by that I mean superior to, since yes, the Night Gyr can poptart as well, but it's a 67kph vs 81kph mech)

Some mediums can pop tart 3 er ppcs?

Sorry, but the original post of this thread stated:

See? "The worst 'Mechs in the game". Being slightly less powerful than the best 'Mechs in the game does not make them "the worst in the game".

The Cauldron-Born might be slightly less powerful than the Mad Cat, but that does not make it "the worst in the game". Most definitely not. The Cauldron-Born is still a good choice for any game mode.

I did not. The Osiris is not the most powerful light 'Mech in the game, but in my personal opinion even some feeble Osiris variants are still better than for example SDR-5V Spider. At least they still have better firepower than two medium lasers of SDR-5V.

The Vindicator can still be useful in the game, but people have no big reason to take if some other more powerful 'Mechs are available. Again, being worse than some other 'Mechs does not make the Vindicator "the worst 'Mech in the game" on par with SDR-5V.

Ebons flimsy body makes it the worst.. and how wide it is..

Again there is an issue here of player agency and ability that you are ignoring. You claim that summoners are bad and worse than timberwovles yet it is the summoner that is used in comp by top level players and not the timberwolf. Are you suggesting they are using an inferior mech on purpose or is your position that you know these mechs better than the best competitive players in this game? You said competent players will eat them but who are these competent players that you play against? Based on your stats you are likely around tier 3 or 4 and it’s unlikely you are being matched against anyone particularly skilled on a regular basis. The skill level even at tier 1 isn’t particular good and in general there aren't a lot of highly skilled players left playing QP regularly but a lot of the mechs you listed are ones I am confident I can carry my team in even in the rare cases I'm matched against a group of actual skilled players.

So the question that needs to be asked is; are you performing poorly in these mechs because they are bad mechs, or do you perform poorly in them because you play/build them ineffectively? Why do these mechs work for me against higher skilled opposition? Objectively speaking if skilled players are using them effectively against other skilled players then it’s likely that the fault for underperformance lies with the player and not the mech.

I figure they use them because they like them. Not because they are the best tool in the shed..

My experience seems to show that in comparison with the Mad Cat, the Cauldron-Born's lower silhouette makes it less conspicious on the battlefield.

Also, its body shape - especially its long "nose" - makes it quite good in spreading the incoming damage across the 'Mech.

Maybe it is less powerful in some respects than the Mad Cat, but I would really not list the Cauldron-Born in the "worst mechs in the game" thread.

Great mechs have a deadly peeking profile, lots of weapons, the ability to boat at least one type of weapon with significant battlefield effectiveness, great hitboxes, good size scaling, good agility and mobility, and hopefully those fun extras like ECM, AMS, JJ's and MASC.

The farther away from that you go, the more trouble you have.

You mean the 2x mpl build? It's about the only good 5v build. Er ll you just get long burn duration. I usually end up in light v light fight in qp so a pulse build is better than an er one. I guess an lpppc but a meager five dmg vs the 12 mpl I'd go for the mpl. I've ran all the jjs and xl 200-210 just for the laughs. find a small hill or up incline with max jj skills and max jj for a nice woosh until you hit the ground and not even max shock absorption and skeleton density will save your legs. It's a good and comically good way to die on alpine's h 10.

Any mech specializing in lurms is pretty garbo.
Hunchback 4J, for example.

Well, you can use it with other missiles, not just LRMs.

The 'Mech has some generic missile quirks that boost all kinds of missiles, and also it has some neat durability quirks too.

The C1 Catapult's really underrated IMO. Twin LRM15s, quad ERMLs, with excellent speed and jump capability and nice quirks for the job. One of my fave mechs to pilot, because you always have options.

Missile Catapults in MWO are not even quirked specifically for LRMs - they are quirked for "missiles". Actually, some of them are quirked for SRMs or MRMs.

So it is the player's choice if he arms his Catapult with LRMs, MRMs, SRMs or Streak SRMs.

I'm a little surprised no one has mentioned the rifleman IIc. It has bad geometry. It's forced to be slow. What does it bring to the table that no other chassis can bring?

I would also say that, just because a 'mech is bad, doesn't mean it can't fight or be used well. the Rifleman IIc is a capable sniper. It's just that there are other 'mechs that have the exact same playstyle, but do it better. I feel like playing the Rifleman IIc is.. well.. it's not even a way to challenge yourself.. It's just a way to lose pilot rating.

On the other hand, the Firefly is such a bad 'mech, it didn't even make it into MWO.

Sure, but they do it about equal to the Summoner, while less tanky, so still doesn't meet your metric.

But we do need some mechs quirked specifically for LRMs. Slot up some Artemis 10's in that fellow and back it with 4 medium lasers, its actually quite a good little ride there... if you like LRMs.

Everybody has their own rule of what makes a "worst mech" and it really boils down to "can I use this thing?" for my play style, I'll tag something as a "worst mech" if I can't torso twist or otherwise dead-side shield to reduce damage to someplace. My Blood Asps are great mechs... UNLESS I use only one rabbit ear set of high mounts and therefore allow people to shoot that torso from any angle! Same with the Ebon Jag.

Other than "bunny ear" mechs like this, my personal list includes things that just can't twist fire away... Uziel, Jenner, Awesome (though I do love me my Awesomes), Zeus, Rifleman IIc, Warhawk... but again, that's just me.

I think Spider Anansi is quite unbeatable at worst mech in the game, some way too fast omnimechs are competitors though.
