Which one facilitates the most fun builds? Preferably - with no more than two weapon systems, three gets difficult to mash the buttons correctly.

These 'Mechs are not so easy to play right. Are you sure that you really want to buy one of those?

I think I see what you mean, all the fits are very tight on both - not enough tonnage for heavy weapons, and manly arm hardpoints with few in the torso. Guess I'll look at other discounted mechs. Thanks for saving me some C-Bills!

If you are looking at those discounted 'Mechs, then perhaps one of these would be worth checking:
  • Ebon Jaguar (Timber Wolf would be better; however, Timber Wolf costs 15 millions C-Bills, so getting Ebon Jaguar for 6 millions is not a bad idea)
  • Marauder
  • Blood Asp
  • Marauder IIC
  • Stalker
It depends on what your 'Mech should be capable of doing.

Appreciate your advice!

However, I already have some of these:
* 3 Ebon Jaguars - loved these since my very first days in MWO many years ago, wrecked faces with the trial one and later bought some.
* 2 Timber Wolves - also loved the trial one many years ago, it's a tank. Damn expensive - I remember being very reluctant about paying for it,
* MAD-3R and MAD-BH2.
* Marauder-IIC-C and Marauder-IIC-SC.
* BAS-B

Do you recommend getting any other variant(s) of these? No heros, please - I can only buy with C-Bills. I would like to support the game (and have in the past), but now is not a good time.

Very surprised to see I don't own any Stalkers, it's very odd, I remember having a lot of fun melting faces with missiles (both SRM and LRM). I played the trial one, and I could swear I then bought some. Could it have been removed from my account?

Which STK do you recommend? I'm thinking 5M and 3H, for the unique quirks.

It is a matter of the personal taste: Check the quirks and compare them with your intended loadout. If you wish to boat lasers, find the variant with the best quirks for it.

In the end, it is your choice.

First, go to your Mechlab. On the 'Mech selection screen click the "Show All" button. All your owned 'Mechs should be visible.

Second, if you are sure that you have bought that Stalker, ask the PGI Support service. Use this e-mail:

It depends.
  • If you wish to run missiles, STK-5M and -3H are good choices.
  • STK-3F, -4N and -5S are good for lasers and PPCs, but they can add missiles too - these variants are quite versatile.
  • STK-3Fb is the only Stalker with the ECM hardpoint, but with only two missile hardpoints. So it's either two big missile racks, or pure energy boat.
  • STK-7D is good for boating energy weapons (nine energy harpoints), various PPCs included. As with the -3Fb, -7D has only two missile hardpoints.
I think that first you should decide what your Stalker should do, and then find the most suitable variant with the best quirks for the intended loadout.

So there was no mass removal of Stalkers from people's accounts? Maybe my memory is playing tricks on me. I know I've played it a lot, but it is possible I actually only played the trial ones.

No such mass removal has ever happened.

As I said, if you are not sure, contact the MWO Support.

STK-3F(C) used to be Trial 'Mech. Its loadout was five medium lasers and quad LRM-15s.

Maybe this is what you are remembering using.

Besides mech quirks, also look for HSL quirks, this enabling mechs to do what most other mechs cannot:

eg:
Stalker STK-4N: +1 HSL Laser Family, and +1 HSL Large Laser

==>Therefore STK-4N can fire 6x Large Laser at once!!
*faints* ;)
