coming back after a taking a break Hows the light gameplay still terrible/punishing as usual? :)

How long a break? Over the last year or so there have been some pretty massive shifts in overall balance and nearly all mechs are viable now especially lights of every weight class. 20 tonners especially got some nice and needed buffs and in the right hands can be a complete terror.

about a year-ish i have been gone

Sounds great i noticed seen some changes but not understanding of their gravity so to speak

gonna take my locusts and spiders out for a whirl when i get the chance

I have been having a blast i find the Quirk/skill tree balance great really allows you to max or padd grey areas allows light to spread their legs

that said lights are strong and can put up a better fight but its still punishing as being out of place is still fatal providing they are even looking my way, i think whats irking me more is there are ALOT more ecm it might just be me be but i am feeling it (and loving it got to show some PB/Flea love right?)

If you want to ease back into the game then play ecm light and medium mechs as not having that red dorito over your mech seems to render it invisible in a thick firefight. I've had the enemy team walk right past my fle-20 on a few occasions and a few look right at me as they pass but the camo blended in perfectly with the background.

These would be my mechs to get used to the game again. Fast, ecm and good ranged firepower. Stay at your optimal and farm away from ecm cover.

right now i try to use other peoples ecm to cover me, wheni have sharpened up a bit i plan to use ecm/stealth (i think is great but can be a crutch)

so current focus is "Scout Snipe harrass counter Light" i got a few builds around it exploiting MWO mechanics

LCT-3V my general purpose lct with a spicy 1440 sensor range
LCT-1V my 2 extremes LCT ER-L that act like a pulse laser
LCT-1M Simple MRM LCT

Pirate Bane don't think there anything special here builds are mostly the same

for the Flea Fans

FLE-FA "touch me i dare you" kinda mech

FLE-20 not the fastest but that why fleas have masc's :P

You are generally missing a lot of armor in many of your mechs, cannot really recommend that from anywhere else than head or arm that doesn't anything in it.
I would also recommend having full 1 ton of ammo in the head slot it is the last slot ammo is used and headshotting a light mech is one of a million thing even for skilled players.

Potential improvement for lct-3v: Same'ish but faster (XL because lights don't really benefit from LFE, LAMS instead of BAP, you don't really have lock on weapons so you are not gaining much by having that massive sensor range.

the 1440 range isnt for me it for the team i am using bap for the ecm cancel/25% target data so i can react with a ya or naa and shift the light engine is a c-bill issue and a oh i still have this engine on? and looking at your build i first thought "ONLY 3 HS?!" ill have a go and see what i can do

Lights are stronger than ever before, unless of course, you run a terrible kitchen sink build that makes no sense and you decide to stare at assaults.

i like the Firestarter gonna be very toasty tho
2nd build i have tried in the past but i found the mech to fragiie and tall leading me to get frustrated with it certainly not a forgiving mech

How is it fragile? What? It has god tier mounts so you never have to full expose, it's not huge, its hotboxes are pretty good and it's armor quirks are generous.

i just found it fragile once you got into structure to expand its not great for my playstyle but yea it got good armor and tall mounts

Delete the mech support out of your mind. The best way to support your team is bye killing reds. If your mech doesnt achive this, u are a burden for your team.

Lights are never forgiving (and should not), as every high pin point hit will mess u up. So learning your timing and how to poke properly is an important step. Flea 20 with 5 mediums and ecm is probably one of the easier mechs to get back into piloting.

Things like the 7-8 small Lights etc. will need far better understanding of your teams movement, red teams movement and when to attack which target.

No nascar. Everybody do their best (in potato way). If you cry HELP, they come and die with you.

How could I forget this. Too many Tier 1-2 bad for health, lol.

Firestarter is as tall as a hunchback. It's been too big since the rescale.
