If you want a name based on where you want the game to go, shake things up, be enthusiastic, something like MWO: Tempest or MWO: Cataclysm
If you want a more accurate name based on the amount of planned effort, maybe MWO: Embers or MWO: Remnants

Maps: Use Solaris map as bases for new maps! (Plz Caves/Cavern)
New Weapons: depends on if we do a timeline jump, we still have plenty of tech we could use in current timeline.
MML, Light AC, HAGs (please I want this so bad), Plasma rifles, superchargers, Streak LRM, Thunderbolt missiles.

In addition to the regular matchmaker check by overall pilot skill or something, mwo can add a secondary check of the mech each player's piloting. What am I talking about and how to evaluate mechs? Enough would be doing it by evaluating just a mech model. In the game code, each mech model gets a new variable. Let's call it "PILOT-MECH EFFICIENCY".
Next. How do I score it? Based on a match score that particular model scored. Each battle adjusts the value of "pilot-mech efficiency". Lets say, initially it's equal to 0.5 (50%, like 50-50, saying "the game doesnt know yet how good you are in this mech"). Changing the mech in mechlab will not change the value. The variable "pilot-mech efficiency" shows how well a specific pilot plays on a specific mech model he has.
Next. How does the variable change? About the same way as the Tier goes up or down. Except that while the old Tier shows the cumulative success of playing on all mechs (a kind of a meaningless junk yard), the "pilot-mech efficiency" is like a bunch of tiers, but for each individual mech, for each individual player.
Thank you o7
My initial thought about it was that me personally can be extra efficient on my favourite mechs, but a total garbage on others. But the current matchmaker can't see a difference.

At first glance, YES! At second glance...MOOO?
To your point of "generic / confusable" rebrands...I had MWO: Endgame typed out and and ran straight into the MCU reference.
- Mechwarrior Online: Override Engaged
- Mechwarrior Online: Betty Rides Again
- Mechwarrior Online: The Future Is War seems to have some established marketing

MWO: Reckoning
Or, take a major lore operation from the new timeskip.
Say,
Mechwarrior Online: OPERATION SCOUR

I must humbly disagree with you on this one. But I see what you are saying how both can be generic. When I said Legacy it is meant as a way to represent what Matt Newman is trying to do with the Legends concept, while at the same time, also commemorate MWO's existence as a bit of anniversary for a decade now. To say that Legacy is meant to ego-stroke the community is a foolish statement to make and I can't follow you on that one. Especially given on what I said about the Hero Mechs being legacies of notable pilots and the community events.
However when it comes to Operation Override, I like it. It's kind of what I suggested with the other name being Mechwarrior Online: "Codename Phoenix," as a way to rise from the ashes and start anew.

All good, mate. My post / re-brand proposition was not totally serious (as the final sentence should have implied). Things differ, depending on the eye of the spectator ... and "The future is war" certainly has more mass-appeal than both of our suggestions (no matter how thematically / metaphorically fitting em might be).

I get you, I'm not taking it personal.I just wanted to tell you why I said Legacy would be a good name. Though I do like the points that you raised on Legacy and Legends being redundant though. This is why I agree with you on with Operation Override because I like the concept of the game starting fresh and working towards the future.

the legends mechs seem ok, the price is the issue for me. i played this game forever without buying anything even though i wanted to support the game because all i saw were $50 mech packs with variants of the same mech, comparatively most paid games cost $50 to own the whole game, if i was dropping a bunch of money id like a variety of models. the solaris 7 hero pack was also good variety pack. i finally started buying mechs with the platinum packs because it was a decent selection of mechs for a reasonable price. i stopped buying them because they came out too frequently, its $50/month to buy both packs, if they were quarterly or biannual id keep up with them and theyd seem more special. i like the drop deck idea of selling them. unsure if youre letting people choose any version of a mech and giving it the platinum bonus, or letting people select from existing platinum variants.
i dont like the name legends. most legends games im aware of are crummy mobile or moba games. pick something more exciting that describes the action packed gameplay like galactic offensive, battlezone, dropzone, warzone, battlefield, destroyers, endless assault, legend assault, call of duty, world of war crafts,
as many others have mentioned here i feel a lot of attention should be put toward revamping the onboarding of new players of this game. learning to pilot the mech is fine but there should be more about how AMS, tag/ECM/NARC works with missile locks, shooting down UAVs, importance of target locks and teamwork, the meaning of symbols on the lock and there needs to be more introducing how to build a mech and how the hardpoints and slots work to restrict what you can load on your mech. i found it more confusing than it had to be as a long time battletech mechwarrior player and i take lots of time explaining it to my friends, i cant imagine how overwhelming and difficult it must be for a new player with no battletech experience to figure out the hardpoints and slot system and build a mech
i would like to be able to invite friends to the testing grounds where we could clobber each other or train on some lance tactics before we try it in a real match. perhaps also have testing grounds mechs shoot back at you and do basic evasive maneuver, like move left and right.
ranking system needs to reward map objectives more. i can run to the enemy base and win by cap and ill lose pilot ranking because i didnt do any damage etc.
future features i would like to see more teams on teh field, 4 lances free for all, or 3 teams of 12 mechs.
a mode like Warzone from Killzone 2 where your objectives change while youre on the map, first you have to run to secure a zone, then you have to deathmatch, then switch to guard a base, etc winner is whoever got most objectives at end.
have repair bays in some game mode so you can limp back to a base and stand on a bay to get repairs done and get back in fight.
add NPC tanks to the maps that harass whoever passes by.
flash, molotov and smoke grenades consumables to hide/restrict movement. a consumable that gives heavy/assault mechs a short boost of speed/agility,
in summary, please dont call it legends. please call it something exciting that describes or elicits the joy of the mech smashing action, and make it easier for new players .

1. PLEASE make factions actually interesting. I hate how they are nothing more but glorified game and forum icons. You have rivalries with these factions you could take advantage of. Even sarna has a list of them. Here is how I would do it:
FP and QP Rival Events Example:
Davion vs Kurita Event
Davion - Kill Players with Kurita Icons
Kurita - Kill Players with Davion Icons
Davion Rewards: Davion Decal (5 Kills), Davion Skin Pattern unlock for any mech (10 Kills), Pick of Kuritan Mech Salvage (20 Kills) (Jenner, Panther, Dragon, Hatamoto)
Kurita Rewards: Kurita Decal (5 Kills), Kurita Skin Pattern unlock for any mech (10 Kills), Pick of Davion Mech Salvage (20 Kills) (Locust, Enforcer, JagerMech, Victor)
2. New weapons:
Hyper Assault Gauss Rifles (or HAGs for short) - They are basically when MRMs meet Gauss Rifles
Silver Bullet Gauss Rifles - When LBX Autocannons meet Gauss Rifles
X-Pulse Lasers - They are lasers that meet machine guns, from what I know from Mechwarrior 4.
3. New factions:
Word of Blake - Tied to Marik
Periphery:
Magistracy of Canopus - Tied to Liao
Taurian Concordat - Tied to Liao
Marian Hegemony - Tied to Marik
Clans:
Clan Hell's Horses - Tied to Clan Wolf
Clan Snow Raven - Tied to Clan Ghost Bear

Quad mechs. Most of them are trash but the clans managed one or two decent ones and the Tarantula can fly like the wind, so these would be fun to add into the mix, including having a different paper doll and needing to lose more legs for a leg death.
Variable paper dolls. The sexy ones in MW5 that show the geometry of the parts are much nicer than the ones here in MWO. Having some of the more novel mechs with additional limbs, turrets, etc could be fun. Elementals would be great, as would other battle armors, tanks and aircraft. Perhaps you could have a mode with just mechs available, and then other modes that allow something like a faction play drop deck but with one of each type of vehicle.
Melee and brawling options with enough cover to make them viable on every map.
More weapons variety would be nice, though shying away from one shot kill weaponry like long toms.
It would also be nice if some of the mech stable in mwo were redeemable in this new title, maybe at a migration fee in CBills, lower than market price.

Variable paper dolls.
I always thought mechwarrior games would work really well with quad mechs for simple reason. They would be great mechs for players new to the game to use. No torso twisting means its all forward/backwards and turning, which is exactly how some of my friends first played the game when they were learning the basics. Even just adding the Scorpion for brand new players, and the Goliath (maybe give Goliath a small bit of 15% "torso" twist for it's turret) would be great transition mechs to get newer folks up and running faster. Don't worry about side stepping them at all for it, just forward back and turn. Quads could get good front/side armor bonuses.

P.S. no offence but even with all adjustments some weapons are underpowered and very rarely seen on battlefield, same goes to mechs (example - IS ER PPC, HGN chassis etc...).
