I would love it if PGI added these IS Brigade decals to the game:

I'm happy to hear that there is a future and some exciting stuff coming up.

For the name, we all call it MWO anyway, why can't it just be Mechwarrior Online? Why do you need anything else?

Why not add gestures to MWO? This is the thing that can be sold for MC. I can still see my Centurion victoriously throwing up a cannon.

Actually, in the real world you already have what you asked for, and now you're moving the goalposts by asking for pretty lights. Just admit you didn't think of looking at the 'mech model, and go on about your day with some integrity.

There is only one thing to admit here : You are super cute! Posted Image

Keep posting like that and I am sure you will make a lot of friends! LOL! Posted Image

One area that hasn't been mentioned that I think might be helpful for retaining new players is access to information. MWO is a delightfully complicated game. It is therefore a bit frustrating to have to go sorting through youtube videos, forum posts, reddit comments, etc, to get answers to basic questions about game modes or equipment. "What are the damage values/range brackets for ATMS? Does TAG speed up lock time? What do the various towers do in Incursion mode? How does one earn a savior kill or scouting bonus?" etc. Google any of these questions and you'll find a mix of opinions out there, with no official source to verify against. The fact that the answers to these questions can change (with patch updates, quirk passes, etc) makes it seem even more problematic that neither the game nor the website offer actual info that new players need in order to figure stuff out. I'm not a coder/developer so I don't know how complicated it would be to compile something like this, but it feels like it should be toward the easier end of the scale.

as many others have mentioned here i feel a lot of attention should be put toward revamping the onboarding of new players of this game. learning to pilot the mech is fine but there should be more about how AMS, tag/ECM/NARC works with missile locks, shooting down UAVs, importance of target locks and teamwork, the meaning of symbols on the lock and there needs to be more introducing how to build a mech and how the hardpoints and slots work to restrict what you can load on your mech. i found it more confusing than it had to be as a long time battletech mechwarrior player and i take lots of time explaining it to my friends, i cant imagine how overwhelming and difficult it must be for a new player with no battletech experience to figure out the hardpoints and slot system and build a mech

i would like to be able to invite friends to the testing grounds where we could clobber each other or train on some lance tactics before we try it in a real match. perhaps also have testing grounds mechs shoot back at you and do basic evasive maneuver, like move left and right.

ranking system needs to reward map objectives more. i can run to the enemy base and win by cap and ill lose pilot ranking because i didnt do any damage etc.

a mode like Warzone from Killzone 2 where your objectives change while youre on the map, first you have to run to secure a zone, then you have to deathmatch, then switch to guard a base, etc winner is whoever got most objectives at end.

have repair bays in some game mode so you can limp back to a base and stand on a bay to get repairs done and get back in fight.

add NPC tanks to the maps that harass whoever passes by.

I really hope P.G.I. reads these comments! Posted Image

Just update the engine of the game or redo the same game in unreal 5 easy fix or literally make mw5 with pvp enabled
Expensive fix that would take several years. You have no appreciation for how much they'd have to redo to switch to a different engine.

Or pilot portraits when you use VOIP. Or voicepacks for Betty.

Think of switching game engines as effectively starting from scratch because it would probably be easier to do so. ;)

Only somewhat. A lot of the nuts and bolts are engine-specific, but they can transfer art assets, weapon balance, and all that. They've talked about this before, particularly when MW5 was coming out. They'd like to update the engine, but like you're saying, it's a more extensive - and thus expensive - undertaking than it might seem.

New player onboarding and game information is an area with a huge room for improvement. The LRM overhaul was how long ago - and TAG's tooltip is still wrong? We also need an official database of game mechanics. I should not have to comb through the patch notes and try to parse the numbers on a graph to find out how ATMs work, or ask on the New Player forums to find out the effects of TAG.

The Wiki tried just that. But it needs to be kept up to date.

Probably not for MWO in it's current form, but if you do add PVP to MW5 or something like that I'd love to see some mechs/weapons/engines be actually better/more rare than others (totally imbalanced) but cost more c-bills (not pay to win.) If you lose a mech, it's gone. Salvage and an auction house could be a thing. Efficiency would be rewarded. The best player in a dire wolf would be the best thing in the game, but that player would be taking a big risk by "using" their dire wolf and risk losing it in a match. You could balance the game through eco rather than quirks etc. I'm kind of into interesting quirks to emphasize certain mech's qualities, but perhaps you could add an element where you'd buy a weapon system that was "customized" to have some sort of benefit.

Right; but a wiki, by definition, is a fan-based system instead of a dev-sponsored official database. They need to tell us themselves what a weapon does, rather than relying on the fan base to research and explain stuff while they leave tooltips unchanged for years. The Wiki hasn't been updated in at least 30 days, and doesn't even contain sections for each weapon and piece of gear.

30 days? Oh sweet summer child.
The Wiki, by its' own logs, has five registered users and only had two active contributors: Kanajashi who for some reason has been banned by the wiki admin in mid-2019 and Tam001 who nearly stopped contributing after mid-2019.

I said "at least;" it -has- had some 'mechs updated since I last checked it years ago, but I'm well aware it's never been truly supported, despite the heroic efforts of a few players. It's irrelevant enough that I didn't bother to look into the deeper data after I looked at the (empty) changelog. =]

And that's my point; Wikis are fine and dandy, I guess? But there needs to be an official, updated source on what does what in MWO, and we've never had it - effectively leaning on people who haunt the new player help forums to inform players of what the heck {insert thing} actually does.

Freelancer comes to mind when reading your post :
- Fly to a special part of the universe that is very hostile.
- Steal foreign weapons/cannons/lasers that are very powerfull.
- Try to survive all the enemies while you are trying to reach an exit from their area and award yourself with new super powerfull weapons! :)

However...

They do generate A LOT OF HEAT !!! :D

If PGI does make a new PVP MW game, perhaps a different financial model would be good. Relying heavily on cosmetics (skins, paints, and trinkets) has the benefit if keeping it far away from P2W, but then the financial incentive is for PGI to focus on adding thing that essentially have no impact on gameplay.

Perhaps a subscription or pseudo subscription model would be better? Maybe there is a chance of losing equipment and/or your mech, but PGI charges $0.01/ton/month for optional "Mech Insurance". It'd just cover the essentials; chassis and engine so you'd still take some financial hit for damaged equipment. This would make c-bills much more important and there could also be a salvage component to the game as well. There'd still need to be a risk free option for new/casual players so something like trial mechs (non-customizable mechs that can be used, but the mission payout is low since you aren't taking any financial risk).

I'm a pretty new player, but given it has been 10+ years since the launch of the game and it sounds like QP has pretty much been the main playmode (correct me if I'm wrong). If that is due to the niche nature of the game then perhaps a new PVP should have the "faction play" type of universal shifts baked into that. Basically what happens in QP does have an impact on the universe. For casual players, they may never notice or care, but the more dedicated players could choose what battle is high on their priority to win. This would probably necessitate a change in player's interaction with QP. Probably would need to have multiple "missions" to select from with faction and location info. Casual players wouldn't care, but those in the know would be trying to sway the more important battles.

Mobile games do that for many years now and that stuff has come to some PC games too!

That should have been in the game for many years!

Without the other players losing their stuff ofcourse! Posted Image

Currently it's just a low amount of money and that´s it... Posted Image

Sadly FW has suffered a lot from the steep learning curve and time investment reguired for it in MWO so those huge plans never happened eventually... Posted Image

Wait, WTH? Why would anyone ban Kanajashi?! I know he gave up on MWO, but so have a ton of other players. How is that grounds for banishment?

The problem really isn't the cosmetics/mechpack model, its more that Russ couldn't/can't comprehend that people were asking for low dev cost things to buy to support the development of the game, but in his mind he thought people wanting stuff to buy means they don't have to develop the game - more mechpacks, more shiny skins - almost 0 effort into making the game more than it was in beta.

Honestly its only a matter of time if they don't pull the trigger on MWO2 that the MW5 modding community will do it for them, and then they will make no money here, and no money on MWO2.

As far as costs go, an upfront with their desire to pretty much only make mechpacks (even in MW5, their DLCs are basically just mechpacks with a few missions). They have an opportunity to bring the player base together, fix a bunch of problems this game has (no modes, people think the npe is tough, lack of any good game economy) - and make their monetization model vastly better in a way that spans all their MW5 based titles and can incorporate looting/unlocks from the others and MWO back and forth.

I'm not sure if that was the trigger for this event or the other way round. Never the less, getting rid of one of the only two people actively contributing to the whole thing did PGI no favours.

You heavily overrate how much modding can do.
Even if that wishful thinking was possible, someone who achieved it would be doing it without a valid license for the IP and quickly find themselves on the wrong side of a cease & desist letter.
