I logged in today to see my name LongShlongWong was changed to MechWarrior8060722 or something along those numbers. If my name was an offence or something why did I not receive a free name change or something? What is going on, or was I hacked?

Yes I kind of assumed that but usually games give you a free name change in that case. Seeing as how it even let me use that name I thought it was fine. $15 for a name change when I wasn't aware that my name was a violation seems very unfair. I'm just hoping I guess a Dev see's this and I am allowed a free name change. Here's hoping.

You could probably expedite the process of someone with relevant authority seeing it by emailing them directly. I don't know who'd be in charge of that, as I haven't needed to deal with it myself, but you could try either accounts@mwomercs.com or moderation@mwomercs.com

Isn't it an option in your profile?

Look under profile, then look at "name" it should give you an option to change it for free unless you already used your freebie.

I used my one free to change it to the violation name sadly so I'm pretty sure I'm boned here.

Sounds like your name didn't violate the filter, but then a bunch of people reported you in game, so mods acted.

Seems a bit silly to me.

Was it really worth wasting your free name change on a dirty joke that wasn't even subtle? lol

Anyway, sending an email is probably your best option for appealing for a free change after the mod action; if that doesn't work, well, prepare to fish out your wallet, or hope that future events give you enough free MC to cover the change.

There's literally no way that was going to not get reported by some parent playing with their kid, or some kid, or one of the gender activists. Or just someone that didn't care for you name and wouldn't have reported you but you alpha'd them in the back at the dropship - or were talking stupid on comms and ended the match with 19 damage.

If I had to guess the last one is the most likely.

To Randoe, This is my steam name. It is also my name on several other games for years now. Is it a silly name? Yes. Racist? Because I used the name Wong? That's reaching lol. Usually if anything is against terms in a game they don't let you even type the words. Or like most games forcably make you change it, not just take your name away completely.

Anyway I made a dumb joke and now I'm paying for it so everyone can have a little giggle now.
