Seconded. I've got over 450 'mechs on my main account, now, and I've got 80 on an alt account that I swore wasn't going to get above 20, and then 40. I play whatever needs skilling, and then I play my favorites (which often have more to do with being traditional Ghost Bear builds, or a direct response to a trend that's been irritating me the previous few matches than with any attempt at cycling through all the 'mechs I have).

A mere green arrow probably isn't your idea, either. :) I found a bunch of screenshots, but only one green arrow, and I'm pretty sure these are from when the 'mech had less than 50 skill points on it, based on the weapons range in the couple screenshots that show that. (Ever since some update, I've been taking screenshots of EVERY match, which is great in theory, until I have to find a specific one :) ).

It'll probably take me another two or three hours to find screenshots of when I finished mastering it. I always do way better once I'm above 80 SP on a 'mech. I only found these by cross-referencing the 'mech-purchase-by-date on the website profile page, and the fact that I got this right after the Warden Pack dropped, so I was able to narrow down my date search.

- At the places you can get SOME COVER there is also a huge chance you will get horribly STUCK! because of some small edge blocking your mech to walk backwards...

Just the other day I was walking around in a Scarecrow on The Mining Collective and got stuck between some totally unnecessary pole and a small building... Posted Image

- LURM/ER LL/ER PPC optimized maps are seriously ZERO FUN when you don't have one of those weapons equipped on your mech!
You just wait and wait and wait untill you get a chance do support your team somehow, but by then your team might also be totally wiped out and then you die alone without a decent score and the PSR be like : HA! HA! Down you go! AGAIN! Posted Image

People use to complain about the original Polar Highlands but that map was many times better than this horrible new thing even with all those invisible walls and glitchy textures it had!

Or like the completely unused section of Forest because for some reason they felt a need to put a giant rock wall straight off the beach instead of some hills. Trees and hills (like an actual forest. O.O), if only any matches had a reason to play out in that back section instead of run over to the ocean and rocks.

I still run XL on several IS mediums, and often they out perform the same variant with a LFE. But I also almost exclusively run mediums and mobile brawling in various flavors - probably also helps that I have several of my most used mechs so even drop to drop if you see the same chassis moving it likely has a different rigging.
The more humanoid models fair much better with XL, the hitboxes aren't as jank..

Don't disagree on the color, not my favorite mixture either.
But - most of the entire map is cover, you just can't play the old stand behind this giant rock/building/wall game on the new map.

You’re right.. it’s understandable because now with such a variety of better mechs to choose from.. the Kintaro has gone to the bottom of everyone’s list of mechs to take out. Does this not make it a bad mech? BUT, even so, going back years when there were fewer mech options.. a kintaro sighting was STILL rare... let alone one that performed above average.. Trebs with jets are vastly superior and I still do consistently well in them.. but they suffer from the same thing: too many better options..

Instead they defined a time of day progression and selected different times on different maps, but it was always the same cycle on a particular map. They did speed it up so several hours happens in 15 minutes.
The only weather effect I remember is the blizzard on Frozen City classic which I think is still there? Maybe toned down from closed beta. Maybe there was rain on Bog initially too? I don't recall. Some maps had fog or other smaller effect that have been removed or changed over time. I wouldn't think of fog as a weather effect though.

Not certainly in that way. The battle itself could start at different (random) times, and it already depended on how the battle would go.
For example, for River City, there were four possible modes:
1) The battle began in the morning - the whole battle took place with a static sun.
2) The battle began at night - the whole battle took place in static darkness.
3) The battle began in the early morning - a dynamic change from dark to daylight hours..
4) The battle began in the early evening - a dynamic change from daylight to dark.

I just found a bug on mining collective. The advanced zoom seems to have a problem. Buildings (e.g. tanks in D3) and mechs disappear, you can actually see through them.

As Voice of Kerensky already said (and was quite correct about), River City, in particular, could start the match at four different times of day, and then would dynamically change about halfway through the match. All I wanted them to do was set the dynamic change timer to 35 minutes, so that, no matter what match, or mode, or anything else you were playing, it wouldn't dynamically change until after the match was well over, but would retain the random start time. Unfortunately, PGI decided to just remove every part of the feature and set it to be always the same time of day on all the maps that used to be variable. (River City, in particular, used to provide a real reason to have Night Vision mode. Frozen City Classic remains the only really useful use of Heat Vision, and the rest of the matches can all be played in normal vision without a need to realize that alternatives even exist).

And yeah, I think it was Bog that had rain, once upon a time. It's possible that's even why walking through a particular spot on the ramp coming from the northern spawn area makes it look like you just walked through water: that might have been a particularly dense spot of rain, originally.

It's been several years, now, since it was removed. I'm pretty sure the change pre-dates COVID (although I though Daeron was already working in his PR position, so maybe not? The times are starting to blur together in my head).

VIP mode accomplished just that! While many disparaged that game mode.. i praised it because it brought new life to maps. Unused portions of the map were now being used AND it emphasized the importance of teamwork.. it also put a complete stop to the nascar fiasco that we see in most matches. Instead of cancelling that mode they should have tweaked it so the VIP didn't get stuck on terrain.. but alas, as in life, the whiny babies that are the loudest, drowned out the voices of reason, and that game mode died. Now we have skirmish, skirm-quest, skirm-sault and skirm-dom modes (mostly just nascar and using the same spots of the map over and over and over again).

Would like to see the circle in dom mode randomized.. even it favoured one side over the other every once in a while.. the variety it would bring would more than make up for it.

Also would like them to bring back the glitched tourmaline map (where assets like the giant ring were missing).. that map was actually really fun for some reason.. I think because there was no real defined center... could that be the key to making a good map and putting a stop to nascar?

Oh I know of that one, where they took out the dynamic time of day, I mean, I don't remember the starting time on a map ever being different. Actually, I think it might be coming back to me vaguely. I do remember River City turning from night to day and having to turn off night mode or thermal mid-match. I had stopped playing for a year or two before they brought Daeron on and play for spurts off and on since then, but have kept up with the news since.

I'd like to see it enlarged maybe 200 m in diameter for all maps but yes, randomized would be great. I'd also like to see the timer increased to 1:30 or let the destruction of alpha and beta always increase the timer above 1:00 remaining.

I'd also be curious if some of the elements from other modes could be brought back. I think VIP is out, but could we use those ECM jammers again somehow? Maybe just skirmish with ECM jammers scattered around. Use them or shoot them. Not every skirmish, just as a modified mode, maybe for event queue to see if it plays well.

I'd really love to see a game mode that was assault but with real bases more like MechCommander missions. Different ways to attack each base, either storm the front door or sneak in behind. Each base would have turrets that could be deactivated or maybe even captured and used against you. Gate controls. Sensor towers. We have many of these elements in some form throughout the years so being able to mix them together into a more sophisticated type that isn't incursion would be nice.

All GREAT fricken' suggestions.. and shouldn't be too hard to implement.

Something like this would be epic.. the weakness in 'incursion mode' right now is that both sides can be attacked.. so you end up with some ppl defending some attacking, some wandering around clueless.. this is too complicated for quick play. But with one side attacking, and one side defending.. the team can actually function like a team because everyone has ONE objective. My worry would be that it would become another skirmish mode, except, in a fixed location.. there would have to be some details added to keep this from happening.. like for every section of the base you destroy, the team gets some reward like 15 seconds radar sweep or jammer.. ideas?
