It would be better if the game never ends or if it ends hourly, I will play for 2 hours, for example, why should I go out?

To give an example, I could be in the game instead of looking here now Posted Image

I think longer matches would be more fun.

Where is the Outlier quirk I was promised on a dev vlog weeks ago for the legendary Fafnir I bought last month?

On another note, the change to IS BAP is great. I might actually be able to fit it in more than the single mech I currently have it on.

Personally not at all interested in respawns or selected mechs in QP, if you are going to do anything modify the maps/drop points to make the modes better. Choice of mech in particular will make higher tier matches even more boring and predictable.

-Conquest on most maps would be much better if the 3 lances were split out to compete for the 3 "non-base" points and just give the base one at minimum rate for free.
-Incursion would be massively better if teams were spread out similarly and dropped outside their base.
-TBH every mode would be better if you changed the drop points to make a hard shift from deathball/nascar and slightly reduced the ability to set up long range sniping and arty dropping completely uncontested.

The Shadowhawk has quirks that basically make its weapon systems 35% worse despite the cd and velocity and no ammo buffs to compensate. Just seems weird. Also other LBX load outs will be either about useless or impossible because of the weights and slot limitations.

Don't understand at all the point of putting trees outside of the Coliseum, there's a wall around the perimeter.

So instead of fixing the fundamental design error with the Free Worlds Coliseum map where you have a dominating sniper ridge, the map maker lazily slapped down a dozen gigantic plateau pillars so that snipers with jump jets can get on top of those and be completely unreachable.

Well, have fun trying to fight against shadow cats or spiders on top of those as a short range or non jumping mech.

This game is circling the drain.

i do hope that those quirks on Scattershot are just a placeholder, otherwise, with the cource of overquirking mechs sold for real money, this game will be a P2W poopshow by the end of this year

FYI "drop decks" in quickplay may only mean Respawning 4 times in the same mech.
Or it may mean bringing in 4 mechs and only choosing one.
or it may be like Faction play.
We are not sure exactly how it will be implemented at this time as it would be "mode" dependent and modes are voted on.

We will do our best to keep you informed.

Wait, please don't tell me you guys are actually going ahead with this.

Please leave QP as is and make a separate queue for "Dropship Mode", maybe even a checkbox if you want either, much like you have with the servers

Im not interested in respawn at all TBH

Choosing the Mech for the map will just make the gameplay stale as people will only choose specialised builds, so there goes any variation

As long as you have top 4-man premades in meta 'Mechs with the pre-arranged tactics on one side facing off random collections of PUGs in a hodge-podge of various junk 'Mechs on the other side, you can do whatever you wish with the matchmaker and the result will be equally poor as it is now.

Do you really think that after eight years you are going to attract players to this dead game mode? Of course, you will probably offer some special rewards not available elsewhere, but other than this ...

As long as you have premades farming teams composed of random solo players, not many PUGs will play Faction Play.

I guess that a few such games will quickly remind all those solos why they left the Faction Play.

Because messing with the last functional MWO game mode, that still has some life in it, is such a good idea.

Anybody wishing to play the existing Faction Play is free to do so. There is really no reason for turning the Quick Play into some Faction Play Mk. 2.

Drop decks are a bad idea. A huge power limiter is forcing people to play their builds in suboptimal conditions. High risk and reward is what heightens the experience. Give us drop decks and you will always face my perfectly camouflaged gauss sniper on alpine and always my crael in solaris.

Devs are falling into a trap by stratifying the game until every match is the same. Good mechwarriors should get random conditions and prevail... More random conditions actually creates more good warriors.

So the 4-man premade, that has just farmed your random casuals team, can farm your 'Mech three times more in the same game?

That has worked very well in the Faction Warfare ....

I remember how my 'Mech was farmed three times before it even touched the ground when deploying from the DropShip.

Of course, I can imagine that some premades will welcome such change: Easier way to earn game rewards, easier way of completing all the game events and challenges quickly ...

Or it may mean bringing in 4 mechs and only choosing one.

For example, on the Alpine Peaks maps there would be two teams of 12 Assault 'Mechs loaded with ER Large lasers (because everybody will naturally select the best 'Mech for any given map), camping behind two ridges with a kilometre of the open ground between them? So much fun ...

Or take the Solaris City map: Two teams of 100-ton brawlers with the 100-point alpha strikes trained on the corner in front of them. You peek out - you are dead. So much fun ...

Or the Polar Highlands map: You peek out - you eat literally 1000 LRMs in a few seconds and you are dead. So much fun ...

The Quick Play (formerly Solo Play) has endured a decade without the respawns and the drop decks. Do you think that there is any possibility of you keeping it simply "as is"?

Respawning 4 times with the same mech would mean that higher tiers become even more oriented towards maximizing firepower than they already are, further exacerbating the time to kill issues introduced by the cauldron. PGI themselves realized that maximum firepower is bad for player enjoyment, its why ghost heat was introduced to begin with.

Choosing your mech after map is also a bad idea because of what was pointed out by others, it means people will simply choose the best mech for the map, leading to extremely boring gameplay. Matchmaking does occasionally suck when you get a long range map and you only have sub 300 meters effective range, or solaris city with LRMs. But that's more an issue with poor map design and weapon balance being shoddy in the toilet thanks to biased "balance designers."

Faction play drop decks style is admittedly the simplest as we've already had it for events, but even that has massive issues with how the game is designed. One side starts getting the lead in kills, it quickly spiralling into them getting pushed into their spawn with a lead that'll be extremely hard to catch up. And then it'll be one team getting farmed in their spawn.

Drop decks for quick play don't work. Especially not after PGI allowed groups to ruin the quick play experience by letting them go against solos. Keep drop decks in the event queue.

The Scattershot looks really fun; negative quirks used to balance out huge positive quirks is something I've wanted to see ever since the introduction of quirks. The hardpoint inflation on top of that seems a little excessive though, similar to the Moonwalker...

I think people in this thread are underestimating the Dreadnought. 4 artillery strikes will be insane for farming, and depending on engine cap it could be significantly faster than a lot of other quad ballistic builds, especially 4*LB-10X.

Don't add dropdecks to quickplay. Quickplay is the absolute backbone of this game, and as much as I feel there's room for improvement in QP, another exodus due to core mechanic changes will kill the game. If you feel you absolutely have to in order to make improvements in gameplay, make it extremely limited, such as picking from 2 mechs when you first load in—then there's at least a small question of whether you want an ERLL boat in your back pocket at all times, or if you want to hedge against something else.

If you want to spend development time on dropdeck gameplay, I strongly feel it would be better spent on an FP mode/queue that's more playable for casual/solo players, or setting up a generic dropdeck event queue mode that runs automatically every weekend that there isn't a real event.

Interesting, now that we have started to change slots/tons from lore values I would love to see few others also...

If I understood the way this was presented in the podcast, I assume this means that you have abandoned all pretense at improving the match maker. Since that podcast have you been granted more funds from the powers that be to look at both options? If not, then despite the comment in the announcement above, it appears that you've chosen to try and totally change the way quick play has worked for a decade rather than trying to make the MM even slightly better. This smacks of a desperate distraction, and I fear it will drive off a LOT of the more casual playing community.

Summoner and Timber Wolf don't need buffs.

New Shadow Hawk looks very good.

Thunderbolt needs some more armor.

Crusader needs a speed buff.

I would still play but MUCH less. Drop decks are fun for an OPTIONAL event but not for QP as a whole. I don't have 30 minutes to sink into a match every time I play. If they make DD for every match Ill barely be able to play unless it is a weekend.

Lmfao, it wasn't a nerf, it was SUPPOSED TO HAVE THEM from the beginning. It was very overpowered, rather TOO OP

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You have to be joking right? They could have put in the actuators before the mech launch and left the slots alone it was a straight up nerf to the mech and it never was OP. First off if you set it up with ballistic sure it had firepower but no armor so it was demolished in battles real fast and the mech was slow as well falling prey to more mobile fast (Assault Lights) ya real OP. So I compromised with 2 Clbx20,3 Csrm6 full armor and 70 KPH and had fun when they took the slots away guess what you have a choice again no armor or no ammo so how is that OP? It is not the mech was poorly designed in the first place.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I asked Matt a simple question (Why not fix the great game modes we already had? No reply even tried to say what might work to fix them? No reply MWO was a great game Season 1-2 before the purge then it started to go downhill in my opinion if PGI had taken all this time 8 years to perfect there existing game modes the game might not have declined so far into the rabbit hole.

But now with Solo Quick play ruined with the addition of meta groups unbalancing the game play with wipes and seal clubbing like what happened to destroy faction play I personally don't see a reason to play much anymore as I never imagined MechWarrior as a E-sports game. I totally already hate WOT for E-sports as it is.

Like i have said before I started in TT played MW1-MW4 and all its expansions single player and played Mechwarrior in its Golden Days on the MSN Gaming Zone in 20 + leagues why play MWO as a chopped up game ? And how does this bring in new players? To get Seal Clubbed to death and uninstall the game faster.

What is the logic behind the VT-5S nerfs? Completely removing instead of just halving (if youre tweaking for balanced then dont make huge changes like complete removal of quirks) the SNPPC quirks removes/changes the mechs identity so now its quirked to be a UAC mech and you've kind of invalidated the SNPPC builds on grimmechs...c'mon.

Well said. Makes no sense to completely remove the quirks that gave the mech it's identity. If it was overperforming why not remove the generic 5% heat quirk instead of the quirk that gave it a unique playstyle (the snub range).
