I'm tired of struggling against these builds and it's not fun when they have advantage over my build. All the maps are clearly geared towards those builds. I think we need to take a serious look at these meta builds and talk about some common sense nerfs.

What are your builds? I feel like there is such a variety of builds in "the meta" right now that all you will do is remove one. You can literally make builds around any weapon system that will perform extremely well if you choose the right mech for the job. Naturally there is a trend towards mid range builds because you choose mech before map so you don't want to be stuck in a sniper on a brawl map or vice versa but I don't feel like there is a non-viable weapon system.

I agree we need to stop the dominance of Rocket Javelins on Solaris.

Sniper meta.. ppc family, erlarge family, Gauss, ac2/5 all far too long ranges, needs a nerf in range.

Not heat, not damage, just range..

The non-specificity is the joke.

I don't think its meta, id say try changing up your strategies you don't all need a herd mentaility, Don't be that guy that peeks first just to get nailed most importantly learn from your/others Mistakes

Mistakes like Burning yourself out thanks to overdrive
Peeking when they know you are there (that split second blip sound/flash helps you know when you are un/spotted)
Overextending
Not locking and spotting targets (Information/communication is key in a fight)
Tunnelvision

List is not exhaustive but hope it helps

Exactly that. When you play maps like Canyon and you get shot literally from the other side of the map, things become stupid, simply because you cannot control all angles.

In case of Gauss it gets even worse because the shots are nearly invisible and hard to track where the shots came from.

And the last nail of the balance coffin: those weapons won't get worse the closer you get.

Granted, sometimes things are really funny like yesterday when some pro snipers sat in B4 in canyon the whole time but their team got pushed away. So they camped the whole game there with no targets and still didn't move. At the end their team was dead and 8 surviving mechs of us descended on their little sniper nest.Unfortunately not all snipers are that dumb

The ****? Canyon's actually one of the less snipey ones. Of all the maps to single out, Canyon?

That is the point that even this is NOT the ideal sniper map, you still can get shot from the other end of the map! *eyeroll*

I think a bunch of mechs just got a velocity increase, that sounds like snipers to me. Funny that the new legendary Scatter got nerfed on it, and drastically nerfed on it's low caliber LB AC spread(2's and 5's, as well as missiles?) - because I think I saw .. it can snipe at over 2k with sufficient damage, yet many other mechs got a pretty big increase as I said to velocity increasing the sniper options, and variety a lot. Just like the newest map was made with a preference to snipers per Kraz.

If you stand in the open, up on the high ground, like a doofus. Don't do that.

Ok, for you...really slowly...in detail...

The map has rocks. You can hide behind rocks when your are not in a trench. But...and that was the point: considering the range of weapons a camper can sit somewhere and shoot across the whole frikkin map and gets all the time angles on people. That is too much control.

You could can curb that by reducing the range of hitscan weapons and reroll the buffs of velocity weapons

Got it?

Canyon has.. canyons, its ridiculously easy to get within 300m of literally any position on the map with complete cover all the way.

Dont skyline yourself and then complain when you get shot.

I pose this question considering along the lines of the OP question. The standard practice for setting up a mech is short range, medium and long range. Ive been converting alot of my mechs to really good firepower for long range, with backup/devastating power for the short range. As we all know, with map exceptions, the beginning phases is long range, then 'usually' develops mid to late game as close in brawl.
Depends on the mech class, etc. Mostly heavy to assault. Lights and mediums should be one of the 3 ranges.

In a game where you could choose your machine, this wouldn't be a problem. In an ongoing game, you could take revenge in the second round. I've been trying to explain this for a long time, but they don't see it.

I concur. The mechs and weapons I use are bad and need to be stronger, and the stuff the red team uses are too good and need to be weaker.

Developers don't understand this. There's a big difference between playing a game forcefully and playing it comfortably. If you're forcing me to play that game, don't expect any performance from me. My presence there won't benefit you.

Forcing someone into the game just to have more players seems silly to me.

When I look at other online games, I can easily exit the game whenever I want without any penalties. The only consequence is that if I have earned any points in that particular game, they get erased. I can choose any weapon I want and start the game, and I can even change my character during the game. This is freedom. I don't understand why this game limits that freedom.

Does the person who kills me while using an incompatible machine consider it a victory? I think it's the same as pushing and knocking down someone with a disability.

If you want to change/respawn mechs in battle join faction play and who cares what other people think mid fight if i stomp someone good on me and good on him if he stomps me
